What do you think of this 1818 CBH O-108 and what do you think PCGS graded it?

Beautiful Pincher 8's CBH. I would guess AU-53.

I'm going solid AU50 on this piece. Looks very simmilar to some TP toning I've seen.

Can't really discern how much luster is there. Me thinks she is likely a 50 or a 53.

That looks like a prototypical market graded 55 to me. I don't really have a problem with it if the luster is at least half decent. I have an NGC 1817 that looks somewhat like that and is graded 55. Nice 108 BTW (pincer 8's)

First off, the 1818 is NOT mine. I cannot evaluate the luster either from the seller's pics, but I think it looks like an AU50-53 based on details, surfaces, etc. Personally, I think PCGS gave it a bump to 55 due to the nice toning. This is of course, just my opinion.

My 1818 PCGS AU55 is pictured below, which has everything I feel which makes it a TRUE AU55. And, perhpas on a good day, an AU58!!

Actually, I enjoy it more than the rainbow toning of the AU55.

The toned one got a bump due to the eye appeal, it is no better than an AU-50 to AU-53 as far as wear goes.

Remember that PCGS does not grade the coin for wear, as much as it slabs it for value.

I really like your other 1818 by the way, solid coin for the grade and then some!

I would rather have yourAU-55 than the colorful one anyday. That is a very nice coin you have. I bet it would upgrade.

Sorry I got here late, but my first impression was PCGS 55. The wear is a bit heavy for the grade, but the overall look says AU 55.

I'VE SEEN THIS COIN FIRSTHAND AND IT HAS GREAT COLOR WITH LUSTER!! The image is not juiced at all . Phil Hinkelman of Eye Appealing Coins is a great photographer!!!! . Check out their site as they truly do have some eyeappealing coins ( I especially like their 1913d type 1 buff in Ngc 65---- Incredible color coin!)

Wow I missed out on this 13d it allready sold what a nice looking coin. On my way back to there site Eye Appealing Coins still has a few nice Buffs, maybe I can snag one.
