What does "bid with confidence" mean?

I see the "Bid with confidence" along with "no returns" often.

Is the bidder supposed to be "confident" that he can afford his bid, or is the bidder supposed to be confident that the seller won't rip him off?

I never believe anything a seller says if he includes the phrase "bid with confidence"

I'll make that determination not some sleaze bag ebayer.

hey now, i say bid w/ confidence, but
this is some auto-programmed, academic response to fools potential buyers.

but i do have 100% feedback & have sold tons of worthless crap the past 5 years on e-bay.

in fact, i am relaxing on the giant pile of money i have procured from e-bay sales.

    life is good.

The term "pack fresh" is quite ghey and I hate it.

My favorite line used by ebay fools is:

"I am not a professional grader but....."

When I see "Bid With Confidence", I can't help but think that it really means "Find something to bite down on, and grab your ankles; this is going to hurt you a bit."

It often means the seller thinks/hopes that the buyer is an idiot.

Mis-use of the word rare (Rare error, I will only sell a few a week for 2 years now)

Sweet (Makes me think teenage and how I handled my cards)

    Mojo (See above)

    Minty fresh (Trying too hard)

Corners that will poke your eye out (See above)

If you dont use insurance, I'm not responsible if your package gets lost (Wanna bet?)

Mis-use of Low pop- " Low Pop Gem Mint 1990 Pacific Senior Al Oliver" (Yeah, your the only one to submit one, ever.)

Check out this steal !! (Auction starts at .99 or whatever, how is it a steal if you dont know the closing price will be. Steal should be after the fact or on a cheap BIN)

That's one of my favorites as well. Especially when they use it to avoid describing a card to you.

Seller: "I am not a professional grader, and therefore cannot render an oppinion as to the condition of this card. Please bid with confidence!"

How about the question form of "PSA"?

"800 cards found in grandpa's attic. PSA?"
