New Website Review and a GIVEAWAY

Hello everyone,

As many of you already know, we unveiled a new website a few months ago and have been changing it constantly since then. We are at a point now where we want to make a few final changes to the site and then call it good for awhile. That's where you come into the picture. Please review the site (link below) and post your comments to this thread. We are looking for honest input: If there's something that you do not like, let us know. If there's something that you think we should add to the site, we want to hear your thoughts. I have a full time web designer here and we can make changes fairly quickly.

Those responding to this thread with their constructive criticism will receive a free gift. It could be a PCGS sample slab, which we will give to the first 10 or so respondents. That supply is limited, so we will give another free coin, token, or numismatic supply to subsequent posters, until we deplete our freebie box (and post as such). Thank you in advance for your participation. We look forward to your ideas and feedback (positive or negative).

Joel

  • Website perfection imho, easy to find coins and enlargement gives the biggest picture I have ever seen on a website. I am not kissing butt, just being honest. Julie

for inventory listings, i would like to have a list view, rather then having a grid view. Overall, it is a good site.

site looks clean and simple. good luck

  • Looks good to me... one small thing however, mainly a consistency issue...

In the certified coins descriptions, some titles are listed as (example): VF35, PCGS; and others as PCGS VF35. Not a big problem, again, a consistency thing.

Nice site - easy to navigate.

I think the photos could use some work, however.

The currency looks washed out, and many of the coin shots appear to have severe white-balance issues. I've linked to a couple of examples below.

Overall, I like it, though - great job!

For my $.02, fastcoin, the masthead seems too busy--there's no focal point. If it were me, I'd spread the FastCoin name across the top and move the credentials to the bottom; people will know whether you're reliable soon enough without the ANA, PNG, and Redbook references there. The Price Match could go down, too. (Of course, that helps the biz directly, so maybe it should stay there.)

That said, bear in mind I'm no designer. All I know is my advertising teacher told me, "All emphasis is no emphasis."

It's good you've got the search, log-in, and create-an-account where they're easily accessible. It's frustrating looking for that sort of thing on many websites.

    Good luck!

    Nice layout.

    Congrads on your site.
I know that websites can be a lot of work!
  • I like the layout and especially like the initial photo size (for reference). I went through and put a bunch of stuff in my cart and noticed that there is no indication of "number available" - unless I missed that. I like to know how many are available of a certain coin.

    Nice job!

  • when you enlarge the picture to its largest the picture is very crisp imho. I want to give some sort of constructive criticism but I can't find anything wrong, wait......... do you take ugly old large cents for payment??????image

Kool... I think it's a nice website to browse, and easy accessabilty to the inventory on hand.

I ordered a coin last week. When ordered it disappeared from your inventory which makes sense because it was now sold. However, there was no longer a way to access the photo of the coin. It seems to me, the order should maintain a link to the photo of the coin at least until delivery. That way when someone checks their order, he can see a photo of the coin he is anxiously awaiting. Fortunately, I saved a copy of the photo before I purchased it but many may not do that.

I was about confused by the wording of your payment types. I now realize Paypal Express simply means ordinary Paypal. I would drop the express as it made me think it was different than normal Paypal.

By the way, I see you have a 44-S AU58 walker listed for $0.00. Nice price but that can't be right can it? If so, I want it.

I like your free shipping on orders over $50.

I noticed that Peace dollars are listed under Morgan dollars and called Morgan dollars in their description. It looks odd to see a "1923 Morgan Dollar". It's fine to list them together but title them Morgan/Peace dollars, and get the title right in the individual coin description.

All in all a nice site. Good luck and I hope you do well.

Very nice. Easy to navigate. Some pics missing in the Morgan Dollar section. I suggest not
putting up until you can get a pic up too.
    Otherwise, I like!

  • I think it looks excellent!

I like how there isn't a lot of unnecessary space on the pages. However, IMO, the "about us" image up on top feels a little large compared to your logo.

I like the layout of the home page and the sidebar -- very easy to navigate and find exactly what you want. I like that the front page's offerings had 3 coins to a row, and I think that it would look nicer if the rest of the categories would be consistent with that as opposed to 2 to a row. The pictures look very nice.

I like the cart and how you can see a picture of what you are buying.

All in all, I think that it's very well done!

Do you only have one half dollar for sale? Half should be Halves. The same with commemorative. It should be commemoratives. Otherwise, the site is very well designed IMO.

I don't want no stinkin' giveaway! Just a hug.

  • I like the bar on the right that breaks down coin types into very specific groups. I am not really keen on the length of the first page (having to scroll down a bit to get to the bottom). I would also have a link for shipping information on the front page so that it is easy to find (I ALWAYS want to know about the shipping prices/policies before I even look through a website). Other than that, I love the way it is organized and the pictures are sharp.

    Fairly nice site, Joel.
I would offer the following advice to you in all sincerity:
    1) I like the fact you make mention of a layaway plan, important I feel, but no mention on the opening page as to how you accept payment--Visa/MC, Paypal, Money Order, etc.
    2) I assume(yuk!) that you have not gotten to putting the pictures in for your coins from nickel up and that if you are in process-no problem-If not, big problem-Pics a must.
    3) On your opening page, I would consider that like the cash register area at a convenience store and try to attract as much attention to what you sell immediately-Place some of your most beautiful specimens that are at a fair price-regardless of the amount. This will allow your new clientele to see that you have quality items and not just common junk, like the Washington halves, Ellis Island type coins that one can pick up anywhere.
Just my opinion. I buy quite often from online dealers and I think you have made a great start, just keep it up and Good luck.

Easy to navigate site, well done. Only problem I see is that you only list one Large Cent, the 1814 F12. It is a clean planchet, but it is also a VG8 coin. Then again, maybe grading standards have softened again. No offense meant, but I was excited to see a clean F12, then disappointed when I looked at the enlarged photo and seen a VG8....

I think it's fine as is.
My humble '63 mint registry set, not much, but it's mine!
  • Not bad, not bad at all.

Layout is nice, and the site is pretty easy to navigate.

The categories are kind of wierd, though. Do Bald Eagles deserve their own category? Couldn't they be lumped in with commemoratives?

My favorite categories are non-existent. Maybe you don't plan to add such coins?

    - half dimes
    - twenty cent pieces
  • How about an exonumia section?
    And what about a calendar?
Of course a links section is always worthwhile to help people search out the internet.
I can hardly think what else might be missing.
    Very handy site!
