The card looks like it is professional trimmed and altered. What is so bad about that?

Sure they can Steve, but he forgot to mention that it's a counterfeit that is graded a PRO 9.
There's no dot on the shoulder. Thanks.

Wow - counterfeit - good call!

Certainly a grading company that in my opinion is as corrupt as Pro Grading is, I guess it shouldn't necessarily surprise me that they would also slab counterfeits.
  • I dont mean to come across as a jerk but seriously , why do we need to constantly have ebay auction posted on here with " whats wrong or scammer or whatever" . We all know there are alot of scammers on Ebay , now my point is this . I would say that for the most part all of the members to this great forum are intelligent . Now if you want to buy a card that is a bit on the expensive side without doing a little research
and homework and you throw away the money on a fake or whatever.......then thats your problem for being stupid .

If buyers would just be a little smarter , alot of the scammers would not blossom on Ebay......ok my rant is over . Now wheres Rubes Yogi

I kind of feel the same a lot of times as you Bigwilli. The buyers of sports card on Ebay need to be a little smarter and do some research on graded cards. JMO
  • Didnt mean to be a jerk..............

I am pretty sure that all of us on this forum know that card is a fake . The problem is most people wouldnt come in here for opinions
and just look at the card and say...." i gotta have that" and dont research the card . Its the same thing as making sure you read the
entire discription and everything else on the auction .

These scammers just piss me off , they know they are not going to rip off a smart knowledgeable collector , they pray on the newbies
and unintelligent collectors that just view a pic and bid without "checking into things"

    Yup.

That's why they ALL need to be exposed and shutdown.

This isn't the "usual' reprint T206 Wagner ebay scam - I think it's an important thread seeing a "known" grading company slab a counterfeit card.

That's because no one sat on it yet.

    the scammed are doomed
    to history repeat
    and convince the next
    that the sour is sweet.
  • Ouch, I understand everyone's point of view BUT I believe in information also. I would have never read this thread if it wasn't brought up, so thank you for the heads up. I'm not in the market for a Gretzky RC but I do have a story to tell. About 4 years ago I was working on a project that took about 7 months to complete. In our spare time, we'd search for the end of the internet. Well a co-worker of mine knew I was an avid sports fan. He asked me if I knew about hockey cards. My initial reaction was, "Hockey is a sport?", I obviously said yes. He then asked for my opinion on a graded card he was saw on eBay. It was his favorite player, a 1990 Score Martin Brodeur PRO graded Gem Mint 10. I gave him the scoop on PSA, BGS and how PRO compared. He asked what I thought it was worth. In this case, it was an authentic card and I simply responded with, "What you're willing to pay for it". Remember, he's a hockey and Martin Brodeur fan. He typed in $76.00

So, the chance that this thread COULD be seen by a NEW collector, is priceless. To do nothing, except shrug our shoulders and say oh well, is coward. So stand up, and fight.....umm....the information is priceless, and to bring it to people attention is also. Thanks again.
