PCGS Coin Conservation, is it available?

If PCGS has the ability to fix coins that have spotted, can we pay to have them conserve coins when they are first submitted? I would definitely pay for that service if it was available at a reasonable price, say $1 or $2 a coin. I just got a coin back from spot review that looks awesome, I didn't think it could be saved. Maybe if they offered this option up front, for a fee, they could cut down on coins that go in for spot review in the first place.

I don't want to mess with any of my coins before I send them in.

To the best of my knowledge PCGS offers no conservation service other than minor PVC removal/reduction under its guaranteed regrade service for coins already in PCGS holders, which I think costs $30. For raw coins there is nothing offered.
    When in doubt, don't.

I don't understand how they could have the nerve to charge $30 to remove PVC on a coin that was already holdered by them. I was planning on taking a couple such coins to drop at Long Beach for this very thing. Can I get a secondary confirmation that they do not do this for free?

If a coin is submitted under the guarantee and PCGS downgrades or corrects a problem, (in other words, they agree there was a problem), then the fee is re-imbursed.

Reversing the charge makes complete sense. Keeps the riff-raff from abusing the service.

Good luck with getting it done for free -- and congratulations to those who have managed to do so. I have not been so fortunate in my two attempts.

Yeah, I've had a couple of times where they resisted re-imbursing the fee. But, I kept bugging them and eventually they did.
