How's this for honesty on Ebay?

dsessomdsessom Posts: 2,481 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just get sick and tires of all the hype and BS on Ebay, so I listed this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220353815774

How is THAT for honesty? LMAO.

  • A coin you call BU and nice.

    It's a harshly cleaned slider.

    Not
    so
    honest.

    I agree.

If you wanted to be brutally honest, you would have said that it's a harshly cleaned common date AU morgan, worth probably $10-$12.

I don't think it's harshly cleaned at all. Before I read the other posts I was going to say that you're camera angle and lighting angle show every tiny flaw on the coin. You need to photo a coin like that straight on with semi diffuse light. --Jerry

Eh, well I tried to be brutally honest. I couldn't tell it had been cleaned. It doesn't look it, but I'm not an expert either. But, I did try to take harsh photos to make it look as bad as possible. LOL

It actually doen't look quite that bad in hand.

    That's honest.

Do you realize by starting your listing at $1.00 instead of .99, you're giving feeBay an extra .20? A .99 starting price costs .15 while a $1.00 start costs you .35. They love you.

I feel the frustration of a fellow ebayer. You forgot to add, Dont be disappointed when you get it and find out its not some hidden treasure that somehow managed to escape all the other ebayers and now your going to leave me a marginal feedback even though the pictures and description are spot on your still snivel because you dont know a pos when its staring at you in high definition digital three dimentional F-ing color!

    .....sorry

Edited to add, that rant was'nt taking shots at your coin/listing image

Here are better photos, for anyone actually interested in it. image

I don't believe it's cleaned. It may be a slider 60, but more likely AU. It was actually the first Morgan I even bought. I think I got it for $19 plus a few bucks shipping a few years ago. It's the only raw one I have left, so I decided to sell it. It looked lonely. Heh.

  • Too bad everyone selling on eBay can't be as honest.
When I was selling antique postcards, I described them as best I could.
That's why I had over 2500 pos. FB and no neg. til I filed a claim over a
    counterfeit 1914-D Lincoln.
I negged him and as expected, he returned the favor in less than 30 minutes.
Paypal decided in my favor and I recovered all expenditures.

Bidding's gone crazy...must be some rare VAM!!!

Here's the low grade common morgan I just bought. Your second photo above looks much nicer but I still recommend head-on like this:

  • Having it be the first one added to your collection adds atleast 50-100 bucks to the value. Just look at some other auctions that think becuase it is their first or that there is "fate" that brought two coins together there is a HUGE premium.

Notwilight, this is about the best I can do. I really need to set up a rig to photograph coins better..

Your light is very harsh. Are you using a spotlight? Try florescent. Notice mine are two different colors? the phone rang between the first and second shot and the bulb warmed up. First I realized this was such a big change. No wonder some of my labels look green. I set the white balance on a cold bulb and it warms up. The first one is more accurate since that is where I set the white balance. --Jerry

LMAO. No, it's just a incandescent (sp?) bulb. 60 watt. It does look harsh though. I will try a florescent and see how that looks.
