1904-S Barber Half Guess the Grade-Grade Revealed

I have been working on this one for awhile and now have it as of today. I have taken a few photos which I wish were better. Thought maybe we could do a guess the grade for a couple of days. for those who would like to.

I am very excited to be adding this to my set and to have had the good fortune to find this original coin.

I tried some more photos in different lighting. Tough one to photograph and I need lots of practice I can see.

I say it's AU, but could be MS. The pictures just can't give me enough detail.

I think there is a mint state coin hiding under there, possibly.
Can't tell how bad the obverse scratches on the cheek are,
but it should slab (?). I'd guess MS63 at best, IF the graders can't see
the horizontal hairlines in the cheek.
Too much tarnish for my taste, at least in the photos ,but still a very nice coin.
It's also possible it is an AU58 . I just can't see the coin well enough, for all that tarnish.

The cheek marks are mint made roller marks, not slide marks. Typical for early 1900's Barber halves. My photos are not nearly as good as i would like so probably not fair to you guys. The coin is also CAC'd.

My first thought was high AU, but after looking closer, I can't see any rub so I'll guess MS62.

Pics aren't the greatest for grading... I'll take a stab at Mid-AU as I can't really see the obverse details.

EF45/AU50.. could just be the pictures but there is no detail under the laurel at the back of the head and the ear looks worn. Tough pictures... and I am way off where everyone else went with it.

Yes they are tough pictures. I took some more, adding them in an edit to the original post. They are better but not great.
The toning is especially difficult to get. I have to get this to my friends P8nt or Jeremy in the worst way. LOL
I definitely need to keep working on my photos. For the afternoon crowd.

I'd venture to say AU58 (AU55 would be uber conservative) and it's attractive to boot... keep working on your pics!

Wow Glenn! You have one of the best Barber half collections ever! I guessed MS62-63, but I am not that good at grading MS Barbers because well, I can't really afford them.

That one coin is worth more than my truck! haha
