Type B quarters on Tonight's TT

TeleTrade Auction 2646 28 Jan 2009 had the following prices realized:

1961 ANACS MS63 type B $6
1963 NGC MS66 (unattributed

$24
1963 ANACS MS63 type B $6
1963 ANACS MS64 type B $6
1963 ANACS MS64 type B $12
1964 ANACS AU58 type B $6

A PCGS 1963 MS66 recently went for $184 on the Heritage sale. PCGS has a total POP of 1963 200 B's with the top graded at 4 MS66's.

They prolly all went to a single buyer. And they'll be on the way to our host with the most shortly...

Yes. The ANACS ones did not look that great except I liked that 1964 AU 58 one.

I also noticed a 1959 half PCGS 66 FBL went for $2,050. In some respects it looked like a DDR to me.

It's unfortunate that the fees killed the low prices of these coins. IMHO, $6 for the '61 B isn't bad, if you think about. Then again, were it an ebay auction, it would probably have brought more, even in an ANACS holder (especially if our own Boom put it up).

Those minor figures GROW real fast once you add buyers fees and shipping.

That $6 coin becomes $20 then you gotta send them to PCGS where getting them done AIN'T Cheap!

Next thing ya know - the $6 coin now represents being "in" for $70 and if you go to ebay and just list INSTEAD OF SELL, you won't get the prices that someone I know can.

You can bet your BUTT that had I visited Teletrade there is NO WAY I would have gotten these at these prices!

BTW - the 63 IS the most common. Spending $50 a coin for the right Plastic - I think I'd have passed.

I saw these and was tempted to bid but decided to just "watch" instead as I know full well that as soon as I drop in a bid, somebody else would outbid me and then my desire to come out "on top" would have bankrupted me!

Just checked the pops and the submissions on these have nearly double since the end of November! No doubt this is directly related to the $4.00 price increase on the attribution fee. I know thats why I submitted my 7.

Looks like the slow gainer is the 1961 (2) followed by the 1956 (4) then the 1962 (10).

The biggest gainer was the 1958 (86) followed by the 1964 (72) then the 1960 (71).

Perhaps another year or so on the fire will indicate true relative rarities?

Thanks Lee, That was most interesting. And thanks for letting me win one.
We don't agree among ourselves what the relative rarieties are, other than 1956 is the scarcest followed by 1961 followed by ?
I think your chart of PCGS POPS, already, is as good a judge and as accurate as we are.
