Remember Mike's Coins? Another eBay story... UPDATE
Back around Christmas I read in here that Mike's Coins (mikescoins1) was running an auction linky which was "1 Ike with Free Shipping! No catch!" Okay, I took the bait, figured why not... a buck for buck. I bought mine on Christmas Day and paid by PayPal. Guess what? Yep, no Ike for me... no word, no answer to email - nadda. Kinda forgot about it, but on Jan. 23 remembered again and filed a claim with PayPal for not receiving it - they quickly gave my dollar back. I left him a neutral feedback because I was feeling halfway charitable - it was only $1 and I did get a refund.
Tonight..... I got an email from eBay:
mikescoins1 has opened an Unpaid Item case for 1 Ike with Free Shipping! No catch!(#370127746157).
Please pay for the item or respond to the seller before Feb-03-2009. If you do not take any action, the seller can choose to give you an an Unpaid Item strike and your account may be suspended as a result.
Note: When you win an item or use the Buy It Now feature on a listing, you commit to pay for the item. Read more
1 Ike with Free Shipping! No catch!
Item #: 370127746157
End time: Friday, Dec 26, 2008 01:17:10 PST
Sale price: $1.00
Seller: mikescoins1
Case opened: Tuesday, Jan 27, 2009 17:56:00 PST
Case closed: Tuesday, Jan 27, 2009 17:56:00 PST
So now I "haven't paid for it" and a case against ME has been opened, and they're threatening me with an Unpaid Item Strike and possible suspension?!
This is so sad it's funny. Of course I replied to the case saying I did pay, to whom, how much, when, etc., that I hadn't received anything, filed a claim against HIM and got my money back on the 23rd - and asked him what kind of business he's running. (Monkey business.) All the PayPal geniuses have to do is read and look it up, it's easy enough to prove.
Soooo who says you can't have fun for $1 anymore?
Posted in last post also, but mikescoins1 has been NARU'd. Wouldn't you say that's about time?

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

Regardless, I'm sorry to hear of your troubles on eBay.
<< <i>It appears that you were way too charitable with your $1
Next neg him, what woul dbe the worst he could do......oops he did the worst that he could do without you neging him
Exactly! I just left the feedback this morning.
NARU = Not A Registered User, for those not into the lingo.
<< <i>I imagine that is why they were selling the ikes for face, to build up they're feedback. Probably the only reason they haven't been NARU'd >>
If so, it backfired on him---100 negs in the past month can't be good. But perhaps he added a bunch of low cost items to build feedback and then couldn't keep up. --Jerry
<< <i>WOW... a combined total of over 100 negs/neutrals just in the past month alone?! This guy is horrible. Yet... at first glance, his DSR's are okay, and his feedback percentage appears "decent" at 97.9%. Just goes to show how screwed up and useless the current eBay scoring system is. >>
I don't want to be overly sensitive but 97.9% positive feedback doesn't seem like good feedback to me-at least on ebay. I would be very hesitant to buy from a seller with those numbers.
<< <i>And here I thought this post was going to be about me.

hehehe me too!
Have you looked at the stuff the guy (assuming) has now? Wheat cent roll for $5! cost is $6. Something like 525 ikes for $800 with a microsoft rebate that is usually 25% but could be more or could be less? Makes me tired just to read about it.

Also bought a few mint sets with free shipping again no problems.

I also took the bait, I figured, $1 what the heck, right?
Well I bought and instantly paid on December 24th, so that's 35 days to ship the item within New Jersey. I have sent him 2 e-mails, no response.
No wonder he has atrocious feedback.
I would not even send someone like that a dollar
for 5 Ikes, with free shipping, and whatever.
Often times their emails will say "1 Ike for 1 dollar" and you click and it's direct to paypal link (no ebay). I've only bought junk silver from them and the Ike deals and stuff like that. They do occasionally have some good deals and it's an easy way to buy $2 face silver at a time or something small.
I have probably had about 4 or 5 transactions with them, never a problem.
I believe they also do business on ebay now as "WalrusCoins".
OOPS, just checked that ebay ID and it has been NARU'd...LINK

You know, I have no interest whatsoever in sticking up for this guy. I know the feedback speaks volumes.
But the brutally honest truth is this guy sells a bunch of cheap junk usually. If you really think you're getting a "BU Morgan" you should know better. A LOT of his feedbacks are people who are angry about mixed lots of proof sets and stuff. Well, after seeing his emails and ads for these, he does provide a list of dates available but doesn't guarantee anything.
That's why when I've ordered I've only purchased stuff I didn't care about the quality. (i.e. junk silver).
Judging by some of their listings (single Merc Dimes, single random Barber Halves, etc), it's obvious they list junk like this individually to help increase their positive FB and offset the negs. I believe they sell so much stuff that they can't possibly handle keeping track of and delivering everything, and in their mind it's OK if they can keep their FB up.
This is all theory though. And I won't roll the dice on them again!

<< <i>Why would anyone even consider doing business of any kind with someone who has 376 negative feedbacks? >>
It was less in December...... and it was only $1. I take bigger risks buying the Power Ball twice a week! I know a kid who likes Ikes and was going to send it to him - no big deal but I thought it was funny that I filed a claim aganst him, got my refund, left feedback...... then he turned around and filed a claim of nonpayment against ME!

Same exact circumstances and chain of events for me, I'm betting you will receive an email from Ebay stating you now have a non pay strike against you, they don't cross reference your payment via paypal. I ended up calling Ebay and they reversed the strike and the Ebay rep said the seller files these for reversal of fees from ebay and perhaps a small bit of retailation against those that do not leave postive feedback.
<< <i>Why anyone at anytime would buy anything on Ebay from a seller with a rating below 99% is beyond comprehension.

Except about 2% of customers are crazy and/or unreasonable.

True, but it also points out how the eBay feedback system is broken.
In the "real world" almost any business would be thrilled to report a 97.9% customer satisfaction rating. On eBay, that kinda sucks.

Looks like the seller figured on making his profit with the compensation terms.

Great Story Mar, but for a $1 to go through that. I say hell no.

It must be a world record of bad FBs and BS.
I bought a couple hundred IKES at a show a couple years ago for $1.10 each
when lugging them to the car, I figured out why
do not know why anyone would sell $1 for 65 cents, unless a scam is involved
