A couple of weeks ago, I was outbid at the last second on this coin. I had a max bid of $30.

1940D Merc

A few days ago I noticed that the same coin was now listed by the guy that outbid me. This time I put a bid of $25 in and won it. image

1940 D....cheaper.

    It looks like the toning has progressed some in the last 25 years. I find that more interesting than the $6 savings.

    What these people just don't understand, is there is not a Anacs certificate coin on Ebay that I don't know about. image

    He even copied the text from the original auction without even bothering to change the color or font!

    I guess it's good he didn't waste too much time or energy to lose $6.50 (plus fees).image

    Years ago, I used to be able to buy coins on eBay, take a better picture, and make a profit. That's not a good business plan any more. Nor is doing a lot of work to list inexpensive coins, because eBay is likely to make more money than the seller.

    Come to think of it, a lot of eBay sellers could make more per hour flipping burgers, instead of coins. image
