What is your main reason in buying these particular rolls? To get a potentially higher quality MS coin than the bank wrapped rolls offer? To have and keep them in original unwrapped condition for a potentially higher resale later? If you want to do the latter, don't open the white box they come in either.

I'm more interested in keeping the coins at a higher quality. Guess I'm a old-timer who , once I bought my rolls, I immediately put them into fairly inert tubes. I am just not familiar with the paper the Mint uses and what long-term effect that will have on the coins.

I know that the president dollars tone an ugly dark yellow color after only a year, mostly on their edges and it trickles into the face of the coin also.

If you are collecting original mint wrapped rolls vs other rolls in bulk ...removing the original rolls from the white boxes does not destroy their originality.I do that to condense the rolls to one box.As long as the original mint wrapper is intact they are mint wrapped.

And if you do buy the white boxes of rolled coins make a note of what the 3-digit mint code represents. It's the only way of knowing what's in the box later. Of course you can do the smart thing like I did and print a small label for the white box with the name of the coins. Just don't sell them later to ebay user eaglemint10 or you'll get a negative feedback for having a label on the box. What a jerk.

I have a couple of rolls of the 2003 D and P Jefferson Nickels in their original Mint wrapping and the end coins are developing a rather pretty bluish tone. HM
