1909 ddo var 1
1909 ddo var 2
1960 d/d sm/lg date
1964 ddr fs26

do i need to pay the $20 variety attributing fee for any of them?

how does it work.. the well known varieties are nothing extra, but if they have to open a book its 20 bucks? where's the cutoff

As of January 1st, 2009, Variety Attribution is $24 per coin.

This applies to the varieties within the CPG that do not already have a PCGS coin number or that have been previously attributed by PCGS (such as the 1974-D DDO Kennedy or 55/55 Lincoln).

As near as I can tell, each of the coins you listed would require the Economy (or regular) grading fee plus $24 per coin for attribution.

i take it the other fees have gone up too.. i'm using the usual $18/30 tiers, what are they now? i can still use these forms right?

Click PCGS at the top of this page, then Click Grading Service, you will be able to print a 2009 submission form there...

The service fees stayed the same...just attribution & processing fees went up.

ok the coins on that site have 'official' numbers... does that mean that i dont have to pay the extra $24 for any of those?

Yes, PCGS numbers or not, you will pay for the level of service PLUS $24 for each coin UNLESS that coin is already in a PCGS holder. If it is a holder with EITHER a old Variety designated number/description and not the new FS numbers, or you discovered it was a variety not noted on the holder, you pay JUST $24 BUT you must send those already PCGS coins in on a SEPARATE invoice.

i've sent in 1917 ddo's, 1955 ddo's, 1944 d/s, 1936 ddo's.. morgan 8/7 tf, etc etc.. the more well known ones appear to be no extra charge, i've never had to pay the extra fee.

so i guess i'm right back to where i started... where's the cutoff

My understanding is in the old days, when major varieties had there own number, you just paid the grade fee. But now, all varieties get the new FS number, thus you pay a $24 extra variety designation fee. Of course the submission instructions are clear as mud on this, and I can tell you they basically, anything that they put a new FS number on, will cost you. Perhaps an email to PCGS is in order before you submit.

Basically I think the cut off is whether or not its a commonly accepted variety such as the 55/55 Lincoln or 1974-D DDO Kennedy or any of the others which PCGS attributed before the bazillion different varieties (some of which are fairly obscure) in the CPG.

For IKE's, its any coin which has a 6 digit coin number.

Perhaps you should contact customer service to see if they have an absolute definition?

WaterSport probably has it summed up, if you want it in a variety holder, add the fee.
