Anyone doing coin searches get hacked by Systemsguard2009?

Well my daughter got hacked while on myspace earlier tonight and after 4 hours paying mcafee to clean my viruses I have to find a stronger firewall/virus protection.

Anyone know of any? I must call comcast tomorrow morning for a updated verison of Mcafee, but when I had MSN I had Mcafee/Spysweeper and another one can't think of it and had no problems for 10 years. Now Comcast broadband and boom hacked within 3 months.

there is a good chance your daughter unknowingly clicked on something that opened up the virus. i also am on comcast but don`t use mcafee. i use AVG free version, for years now with no problems. hope you get it fixed soon.

Norton is the one all others are judged against. In 14 years, nary a virus has seen my files (and I do newsgroups, bit tourent, etc), thanks to Norton. It's WELL worth the money.

I have tried McAfee and Norton and been disappointed with both being very difficult to get everything to work with. And uninstall can be a PITA. I use AVG free and it works fine. Whatever you use it needs and active update which means a yearly subscription unless you use a free service like I do. Don't trust the virus protection provided by your ISP, it's never broad enough.

make sure you always update to the latest version of Java too... I got some nasty Virtumonde virus that I ended up just scrapping everything and reinstalling windows.

I caught some type of weird computer bug a couple days ago while on a gaming site. Did a computer restore to 2 hours previous and everything was fine.

Well known computer geek/technology-oriented call in radio show host Leo LaPorte often says McAfee and Norton are very bloated systems and slow down your computer too much. He recommends Nod 32 by ESET.

My cousin is an IT specialist at Britannica and him and his co-workers swear by Spybot. Its a free app, and I use it as well in addition to my anti-virus software, so look into this as well.

There is so much good software out there, there is NO reason to get spammed/virused or spywared anymore.
The best protection is to speak to your kids ... when A pop up comes up and says this site or 'click' may be
dangerous to your system do not ignore it and do not click it. 99% of the time its another user infecting your system.

Norton does slow your system down BUT I just use a fast enough computer to not have it bother me

I like the Port control with in Norton also as I remote control from work to here quit often.

Tell your kid to stay off of Nick.com

My son brought home 3 viruses after downloading their games. It took two minutes to catch it with McAfee, but by then it was too late.

I like AVG paid version. It includes rootkit scanning which is not in the free version Rootkits are becoming more prevalent in blended attacks (Virus/Spyware/Rootkit). No antivirus is 100%. you should still be careful with where you go and what you do.

the PC was not hacked. an uneducated user downloaded and installed
software from an untrusted source.

simple as that.

nothing can stop it from happening if a user is not told about the problems
of allowing software to be installed on a platform where the user is given full
admin rights.

create a user account that is not an admin and the problem stops.
