4. U.S. Bust Half Dollars
There has been a large influx of Bust Half Dollars into the U.S. coin market during 2007 and 2008 with the result that prices for mid-grade and downward Bust halves have softened significantly, especially for common-date raw (non-slabbed) specimens. Until the market can properly absorb this excess material, you can get some great deals on Bust halves.
Tip: Although the best deals are in raw halves, be careful that you don't buy any "problem" coins (such as cleaned, scratched, holed, dented, etc.) These are very rarely good buys for any type of coin.
5. High-Grade Barber Quarters
The coins designed by Charles Barber don't get a great deal of respect right now. To be sure, they are flat, unattractive specimens when worn down to VG-8 or lower. However, in better grades (EF-40 and up) the Barber quarters and halves can be quite appealing. I recommend the Barber quarters because the price versus rarity ratio is higher. In other words, you can generally get a rarer coin for the same price in the Barber quarter series than you can in the Barber half series.
Tip: Toning and contrast are the key to superior eye appeal on Barber types. Don't buy "blast white" BU Barbers unless they have a full cartwheel effect (proving they've never been improperly cleaned.)

Are these your pics? I see two types here. High Grade barbers and Bust halves.
As far as the bust half's...
Don't buy low end on the high end, buy high end on the low end...
And as always... Buy what you like and the best you can afford...
Sound advise that has seldom let me down...
As far as the current state, I think you are correct...

The URL you gave says that is a 2008 list. A year late perhaps?
In any case, the answer is "no one knows." If we knew, we would all buy them and all make money. It doesn't happen that way. The way it does happen is those that put in the effort usually do much better financially than those that don't. The effort is time spent learning how to grade well, developing relationships to get better access, and learning the typical market prices and availability. Any "steals" tend to be the result of spending lots of time looking at lots of coins so as to learn grading, spending lots of time developing relationships with dealers and collectors to get better access to better coins, and lots of time learning about pricing and scarcity.
The rest might be considered luck, and 80% of folks would likely do as well throwing darts to pick the next hot series, as any other method. The exception might be well connected dealers or collectors that are giving an honest opinion, because they see the next promotion coming. The problem is that more often than not, dealers expressing an opinion have inventory to move. Often what is going to be hot, are the coins they have to sell.
