Torre the idiot I always thought he was.

He had a great legacy here in NY , and he just threw it all out the window with his new book, bad mouthing the Yankee org and a calling out some individuals. He will never be invited back. I personally never liked the guy. Its my opinion that he was in the right place at the right time , he couldnt and didnt win anywhere else. He was fortunate to get Manny or he would have been a looser in LA as well.
640K ought to be enough for anyone.

<< <i>The stats don't lie. He helped the Yankees. Like him or not, he did help them win championships, and get them back to the winning ways that had been lost. He has made the playoffs something like 13 straight years now, eh? Must be doing something right. >>
In all honesty it would have been dificult not to be somewhat succesful with the teams he had to work with.
However, he does have a second butt as a nose.

<< <i>do you not agree w/ a-rod being insanely jealous of jeter?
j >>
yes I agree with you there. Arod wants to be the man but he is not. what I am saying about Torre is he has always been a low key guy. He doesnt need the money and didnt need to say the crap he allegedly wrote in there. its making headlines ,so it must be nasty.

RIP GURU
Infighting is a common thread among institutions built upon money alone. With that plague seemingly hitting the majority of teams with big name stars, it's nice to see so many young players taking less money these days in order to stick around and build a franchise.
Now that he is gone...it was/is time to let everyone know what truly happened in New York...
I respect him and am glad he is letting everyone know...

<< <i>I think he was unfairly treated by the Yankees on his way out, and don't have a problem with him speaking his mind. >>
Unfairly treated , I disagree. He was paid for what he accomplished in his contract years. He was up for a new contract and at that point he had not won the WS since 2000, lost to AZ 2001 & FL IN 2003. Most importantly gave up a 3-0 lead over Boston in 2004 letting them go to the WS and win , ugg im still sick over that. When he was up for a new a new contract remember you have already been paid for what you have done in the past . I will say that the Yankees were put in ths type of situation twice in recent memory with both Bernie and Torre, the Yankees didnt really want either anymore and made lowball offers to in which the chances were they would not accept and the Yanks would be off the hook, so I ask this , How long does any team need to stay loyal ? if a player is past his prime years and now trying to stay around for the cash. are you saying they should pay up forever, cmon , baseball is a business . Most players are less loyal than teams are.

?????? He gave up a three game lead ????. No his team did that because they choked it up when the pressure was on if Joe Torre the player was out there I guarantee you he would have come through when the pressure was on. What was Joe Torre's major blunder? He actually thought that if you treat these players like men and talk to them in a respectful professional manner they will respond, wow your right the game has past him by LOL. Whats truly sad is that Class and Dignity are now looked as character flaws to the modern day athletes.

Woo-
Dont get me started!!! IF your going to badmouth joe then you might as well not be a yankee fan! Oh yeah your from new york correct!
If you want to start whining about bad yankism start with upper mangagement. They put you in hardtimes! Not joe he is a non nonsense man what peaves him is the nonsense if he was givin the ability to hire and fire and sign players your, OUR ball club would still be dynasty instead of a dud. Arods a puss and always will. Jeter actually grew up 30 minutes from me and I get a little insider on occasion through jeters sister. The gig is the yanks would be a better team without arod imo why is arod jealous dunno maybe because nobody picks on him like yank fans but hey Jeter doesnt or never has put himself like arod does with all his drama.
Yanks will never figure it out. Might as well strip the team and start over because year after year the young bucks are beating are old men. Why because there finally yankees and lifes over. Thats why Joes sour not that they let him go that they bleeped up a good thing he became the scape goat. Oh you cant handle your team LOL who could all of them are grown men with alternate egos. The gamers like jeter, bernie, posada, oniel bet you'll never hear a bad word now would ya.
UGGhhh frustrated thanks for ruining my day!!!!!! Another pass the buck thread or cry me a river yankee thread.
Oh and ps Im a yank fan can you tell. I just dont live in NY so maybe I can see the light a little better.

its always the coach/managers fault . players dont take the heat for losses . coaches / managers get fired players do not.

<< <i>Joe Torre is a class guy, the Yanks management treated him like garbage. Good for him being in LA where he can relax and soak up the sun. >>
My son and I met Torre when he was the manager of the Yankees. He was a very nice genuine guy and I will always respect him for it. I find it amusing that the Yankee Faithful are turning on him now because he's got the book out. This could get ugly!
