Large cent with lines through date...

Is this post-mint damage or something during minting process?

    Yeah, it is a shame, thank you. It's a beautiful chocolate brown with nice detail otherwise. I hoped that maybe, because the damage is worse in the recessed areas, that it might have occured at the mint. Two of the large cents pictured on p. 101 of the 2009 Redbook have lines through the date ( not quite the same, but...) so I wondered if it might have been a common type of error. thank you, again.
