Bought this about 5 years ago 'cause I thought the toning and gem surfaces were too much to pass up for the price of "junk silver". Guess why I finally "cherrypicked" it today.

The best of all possible cherrypicks...cool. On my buff thread there is some talk of a D/S variety but I don't think I'll end up with an autocherry. -Jerry

Well worth the effort. I found a 1931-S DDO dime in my set and discovered a 1939 DDO-003, 3-O-VI, Stage B, MDS (verified by James Wiles of CONECA)

I also found a 1964 type b reverse quarter!

Cool, I love that. Once I cherrypicked an 1808/7 half in VF from my own collection, a draped bust half that ended up being an R5+ and 2 1892-S/S barber quarters in G-VG...sometimes you buy a coin in a shop for what it is...and when you finally get a chance to really study it...it ends up being something more. (I have also had it go the other way.)

I don't think PCGS has recognized the type B reverse yet.

PCGS currently recognizes the Type B proof reverse for 1956-1964 Washington Quarters with the Cherrypickers Variety designation of FS-901. Do a search here by author for posts by Boom. There is a thread from early 2008 with the PCGS coin numbers for each of these dates of the variety.

I've cherrypicked 6 42/1-D mercs and 1 42/1 merc from bags of bullion I had, I also cherrypicked a nice 1942-D double die obverse Washington quarter at a coin show purchased as a ch BU for $20 sent it to ANACS where it was put in an MS-62 holder then sent it to PCGS where it wound up in an MS-63 holder. I then placed it in a Heritage auction where I netted out $2,700.

I believe the PCGS Number for a 1957 B is 145024. Total population was 23 some time ago.
