All-

Does anyone have any idea when the Mint will be releasing the 09 Cent with new reverses?

I have yet to see a time on the Mint site.

Thanks for the reply, was this in the news or a link?

It seems that getting a large amount of NEW cents is damn near impossible though normal channels.

Banks dont order them from the fed reserve, but instead most get rehashed circ. cents through Brinks or another supplier.

The stupid mint will not just sell you normal circulation coins in quantity (meaning the whole range of coins, not just half dollars or dollars).

Seems like ebay might be the place to go to get boxes of cents (of couse paying someone a premium)

I couldn't even get the 08s from the bank! Back in the old days you could!

I read the same thing -- Feb 12 -- here. But all I could find on the Mint's website was that each version will be released at 3 month intervals. The $1 silver commemorative is being released on Feb 12.

Anyone see or read anything about the 2010 reverse beyond "a design emblematic of President Lincoln’s preservation of the United States of America as a single and united country"?

And what's the scoop with the "numismatic" versions of the 2009 cent in the same metal content as the 1909 coin? I guess "numismatic" version means proofs. Is this going to happen or has it just been "approved"?

    Lance.

If by "approved" you mean written into law by Congress, then yes, thus it must happen.

Curious, I did read the legilation and the only mention of the 1909 coin was that of composition and yes, for collecters. I must be in the minority as I would LOVE to see a 2009 S VDB

I have to believe the Mint will sell them in bags and/or rolls since they are a special program. They did it with the Westward Journey nickels in 04/05. However I have not been able to find any info on the Mint site about it. If you have to go through eBay to buy them look for some seriously steep prices. When's the last time the Mint didn't maximize profits by raping collectors for new issues? I will continue to try to find an answer.

I may be able to work a deal out with a family member who can get them from the federal reserve bank. I just called him and put in an order for 4 boxes of 2009 pennies. Maybe I should up my order to 10 boxes. If I can get a few boxes I will put a few on the BST for just a small premium and shipping.
