OT: An Amazing Last 48 Hours....

To all...I am blessed!!

My wife was on the plane that crashed into the Hudson on Friday afternoon. I got the call that no one wants to get...from her as the plane was crashing.

GOD was with us!! I flew to NYC on Friday night and we arrived back home last night (yes, we flew!!).

She is a doing very well, considering. A little banged up and sore, but mentally, she seems to be doing great!

I am not sure what the next few weeks or months hold for us, as a traumatic situation like this passes, we all react in different ways. But, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Most, it would seem, have already been answered, but we are heading into the unknown. We will be fine, I feel certain!!

Thanks again guys!

I cannot imagine what that was like for you (getting a call like that) and your wife (being on the plane). It was amazing hearing and watching it unfold. That's good news to hear that your wife is ok.

What did she say to you as they were going down?

    Shane

  • Well its very good to hear everyone is alright . The world is full of bad news and tragedy these days , Even though a plane going
down is a terrible thing , having a skilled pilot and crew that brought the plane down with everyone making it out of the plane
    alive is terrific.

Getting back on a plane afterwards must have been a uneasy feeling. But its great to here you are now home. Safe and Sound.

Wow. I bet you've never hugged her tighter than you did when you landed in NYC.

Thank goodness for an experienced crew and God's blessings.

I am so happy to hear that your wife is doing well. THANK GOD that HE put a GREAT pilot and crew on board that day. KUDOS to the crew, the NYPD and all the other rescuers.

GOD looked at his appointment book and realized your wife's name was NOT in it. GOD BLESS your family. HUG them as often as you can! ENJOY LIFE!

Amazing! Certainly will keep you in thoughts. Curious how cold the Hudson was. I heard a few people had hypothermia from it. Did your wife have to be treated for anything?

I don't know how I would react to a call like that. All I can say is I'm glad she and all the other passengers are OK.

What did she say to you as they were going down?

That the plane was crashing and that she wanted to tell me that she loved the kids and loved me.
  • samspopsamspop Posts: 1,993 ✭✭✭
Off topic does US Airways do anything for the people involved?

Yes, they do all that they can for the family and victims. There are some real superstars when something like this happens...on the flip side, there are others that just get in the way...all-in-all....B+
  • samspopsamspop Posts: 1,993 ✭✭✭
Did your wife have to be treated for anything?

She was lucky...no physical issues. She did fall off of the wing into the water, so she was wet. But the rescue was swift enough to keep most issues to a minimum. The bumps and bruises are starting to show and she is sore. All-in-all, she is doing great!

Samspop, your wife was just on a Discovery Channel special on the crash. Amazing. Your wife is a beautiful and brave woman. I can't imagine how cold that water was. Even on the wing it had to be crazy scary with the current flowing. Just an incredible miracle.
