This is the hope to hit a Tiger Woods autographed card group rip version.

I contacted Steve Hart @ Baseball Card Exchange to see what kind of pricing we could get on this. He has a sealed case of 2001 Upper Deck Golf SP Hobby that contains 12 boxes. He will offer the boxes up for a group rip at $167.00 per box plus $8.00 insured shipping per box. Payments will be made to them direct and they will handle the shipping. I will post payment instructions when/if this fills up. I realize GOLF cards might be a tough sell, but the reward is pretty sweet if someone hits a big one.

I ripped some of this back in the day when boxes were more affordable and never hit a Tiger. At these prices I would pass but that's just me.

The only true numbered and autographed rookie cards of Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, and dozens of other superstars. With an average of 2 autographs and 1 tournament worn shirt card per box, this box is a must have for golf collectors!!

24 packs per box, 4 cards per pack

Inserts:
Honor Roll (1:4 packs)
Shot Makers (1:10 packs)
Focus on a Champion (1:10 packs)
Sign of the Times (1:12 packs)
Tour Swatch (1:23 packs)

From what I remember, the AU rookies were very tough to pull, falling at roughly 2 per case, not sure, but kind of remember that. The Sign of the Times auto was an easier pull, but the Woods and the Palmer were SP's and the SOTT red parallels falling pretty low too. If I had to guess, there is at best a 50/50 chance of any of these boxes yielding a Tiger Woods AU, maybe even less.

About the D&A info......What Dave and Adams is failing to mention is that the Duval and Garcia AU rookies were all exchange cards and are NOT in the packs and they expired 5 years ago, so if you are looking to pull one of them, you are going to be SOL and have a nice $167 exchange card waiting for you. D & A does the same thing for the Pujols Bowman Chrome that they are hawking boxes of for $500, but fail to mention that NONE of the Pujols were in packs, they were exchange cards. Very unscrupulous business practice to say the least, almosy ebay-esque.

Granted though, the Woods is the pull you are looking for, I doubt that anyone would be thrilled with a Garcia/Duval AU for $167. It is a crap shoot and there are some ok consolation prizes out there in this set. If I had the extra cash laying around I wouldnt mind trying it myself, its just that the chances of pulling a valueless redemption card is twice as likely as pulling a Woods auto.

I seriously didn't want to spend any $ on cards right now but I am probably in for a box or 2 of this. I would still like to know the odds on the #/900 "Authentic Stars" auto cards. The only thing I have found thus far is the odds for the "Sign of the Times" autos.

Sorry for a second post, but I have read a few message board posts on this topic in the last half hour and have determined through other peoples success rate on pulls is that you get roughly ONE AU/900 per case. I do not know if this includes the exchange cards for the /900 rookies, but would think so. If that is the case then, since there are only six auto rookies, you basically have (as a group) a 1 in 6 shot at a tiger RC.

Edited to add: Kevin, we are talking about 2001 SP Authentic, not the regular upper deck, which is the odds you quoted.

Sorry I mispoke. This is SPA you all are getting not regular. I thought you were buying a case at 167.00, not per box.

I seem to remember that the auto RC's were one per case, but remember 3 of them are expired RC's. Good Luck to all!

11 boxes of the 12 will most likely have nothing in it but base cards. At one time (when Tiger was still winning) this stuff was 80 bucks a case. Suddenly someone
woke up one morning and realized that Tiger doesn't sign anymore thus pushing up the price of golf wax. One thing remained the same though, these packs
are not worth it.

If its any consolation, Tiger rookie cards will fall about 6 per case.

Run away!! There is a reason that BBCE has had them on sale for 5 months. For $175 we could each get a case of 01 UD golf with about the same expected return.

6 signed Authentic Star Rookies #d to 900, Look for Rookie Hot Packs featuring 4 #d Rookies per pack, 1 Tour Threads per box, 2 Sign of the Times Autos per box. 136 card set 44 regular cards, 18 Major Players, 18 Fairway Greats, 10 Ambassadors of Golf, 40 "Authentic Stars" #d to 2999, and 6 "Signed authentic Stars" #d to 900. "Tour Swatch Cards" Green Parallel #d to 500, Red Parallel-#d to 250, silver Parallel -#d to 100, Gold Parallel-#d to 25 overall Tour Threads odds (1:24). "Sign of the Times Autos" with a parallel #d to 25 combines ratio is (1:12). "SP Ultimate Foursome" only 1 card available. "Honor Roll" 24 cards (1:4) "Shotmakers" 9 cards (1:10). "Focus on a Champion" 9 cards (1:10 ). Regular set parallel #d to 500 with the Authentic Stars and Signed Authentic Stars #d to 100. I pulled the Tiger back in 2001..it was in my 5th pack. After cleaning my shorts I looked at it and realized just what I had. This card hovered around 1200 bucks
for years...WHILE he was winning everything. I finally sold it for 1350, which I though was good. This was back when you could pick up a Tiger auto
for 80 bucks.

Fast forward to last year..Tiger is on the bench and hasn't won anything in a while...suddenly the 2007 Goudey auto sells for 5000 bucks after it is learned the
print run is only 5. I remember the first one selling for 600 bucks! A few months after that wax goes through the roof and beckett triples the price of most
Tiger autos, including his RC, which went from 1500 to 3000 bucks in one month...now if you know beckett this NEVER happens! I go to the card shop and
see the same SPA boxes that I bought last month for 80 are now 325...yes 325 a box!

so what changed? Why was this card not hot in 2002 or 2003? Did it take UD dropping golf all together for people to realize that they might not pull a Tiger
from packs anymore? Tiger has signed THOUSANDS of cards. Mickelson...maybe 1200 TOTAL. He signed in 2002 for SPA, but never again..now that is rare.

If you want my advice, I would go with SP GU, there is much better chance of pulling Tiger ink there...not his rookie but much better odds.

If I remember right on the 01 SPA, you usually got 2 autos and one GU a box. The rookie autos were the last card in the pack, so if you are busting and don't want
to spoil the surprise turn the pack over when you rip it. Good Luck

Are there any other good hits outside of the Tiger? Duval and Garcia never panned out as all time greats and if their redemptions are expired, I cannot see any reason to take a chance for a chance at a Tiger. Golf cards have very little resale value.

sets are very expensive. The average box will have two autos of guys you have heard of, but are not collectable.

I would be curious what 2002 or 2003 SP GU is running a box. If I remember right a case yielded a Tiger auto maybe two.

at the end of the day though, people are looking for certified autos. We all know that non-certified autos just don't get the same cash. Mantle sigend a lot too, but
we all know certification means everything.

Yep, that's it, I want one for my HOF signed rookie collection. Only 7 more boxes to go. A lot of people spent $75 today for two unopened packs (including me) that aren't going to offer near the mega prize as the golf could yield. But, I will say that they are more likely to pull cards that will pay for their $75 quite easily. The golf is a longshot hit, but if you ain't in it, you ain't gonna win it! (there used to be a Texas lottery song kinda like that

If I were lucky enough to get the Woods Auto, I will sell the card on fee bay and use the proceeds to buy one case (12 boxes) for all of the participants to rip (a box going to each name on the list). That way we kinda keep the group rips going...
