That "auction" should (and I'd assume will) be yanked. It isn't amusing, but does achieve the goal of making the "seller" (haroldbathke) look like a raving lunatic.

Here is the auction he won which he, himself, describes the coin as looking just like the picture... 1908-S. The picture was then reused and subsequently another (or the same) coin sold again for $462.63. Wonder if the coin is still at PCGS or if he did in fact return the coin and it went up for another sale.

Step 1. Buy coin on eBay.
Step 2. Regret buying coin on eBay.
Step 3. Send coin you regret buying to PCGS, thus totally removing any chance for a refund.
Step 4. Post an auction on eBay that, A) tells the world, 'Yes, I'm not only an idiot... but I'm mentally unbalanced.' and B) Bashes a seller via your own self-admitted lack of expertise.

    Step 5. Profit?!

On second thought... this is comedy gold.

    Edited: Corrected mistaken previous auction.

Seller is "salting" their own wounds. Sad.

How much hassle is involved if someone, with obviously no intention of paying, hits buy it now?

Will ebay still cancel the listing on their own or is it possible seller may be forced to file nonpayer?

    Do it. Hit the BIN.
Wait'll he gets the Ebay bill for a $1,000,000 sale.
He can't produce the coin anyway. He says it's at PCGS.

Why didn't he just return it? image

  • I bought a coin when I first got back into collecting from this seller that is targeted. I had no clue what I was doing and by the time PCGS BB'd the coin, it was to late to return it and I was out $1800. It is such a shame too, the coin I have is beautiful and mark free, I have no doubt it is MS65+, but now re-colored.

  • i think it was a clever thing to do.

seller beware !!!! don't sell a clean coin as not being cleaned.

if the seller can't tell its cleaned, than maybe another hobbie is in order !!!

I have to hand it to this guy for outing a scammer. eBay makes it next to impossible.
