1900s Ruth, Cobb, Shoeless Joe, Honus Postcards Grade or not?

When I send these to PSA should I have them graded or just authenticated. Most are signed postcards. I'm not sure which will bring the most at auction on postcards, it may help, and it may hurt.

I'll go out on a limb and call them phony. Modern frankencard fantasies. The front pix are all common images and the backs are an assortment of eras that may or may not match the particular fronts. The backs looks artificially aged and the corners look artificially rounded.

If they are authentic, they look nice!

    Modern fantasy issue.

Some of the backs dont match the players era's and some have diecut corners. I recognize a few of the backs as being from the 1905 era ("Mail Card" TRC - The Rose Co.), but the fronts dont match (Rose Company Postcards are well known in the PreWar hobby). Also the players pictured range from 1910-1950s and are all the basic facsimile autograph design with many having diecut corners. Some of the photos are from the Bond Bread issue and 1950 era Photo packs.

Another blaring example since I dont know all the back and front matchups.... The Babe Ruth card ("pop up" in pencil) has a back that was only made when Ruth was about 10-15 years old. It is a 1907-1912 era back.

Also some of the backs are undivided backs (no stripe down the middle) , meaning they are from pre1907. The "AZO" postcard (bottom left corner) should also be a real photograph, not a printed picture.

Fantasy Issue made in last 20 years IMO.

  • Thanks Frank, I wont waste anymore money on PSA to have them graded. I sent in a few cards and Im not very pleased with the tough grades they give now. My Michael Jordan orange border refractor ( less than 20 made ) was in plastic from day one, 8 on low side to 9 on high side. Maybe an 8 because of light scratches that cant be seen by the naked eye and factory defect on back that all of them have 3 light wrinkles on back only from production. Came back as a ( 5 ) . A 5, are you kidding me ( ROUNDED CORNERS ) Bull----! 2004 Leaf #233 Babe Ruth blue pants swatch, straight out of wraper to them comes back near mint + 7.5. UD leading swatches Jim Thome LS-JT perfect in every aspect gets a mint 9. DO they not give tens anymore? Or do they want you to keep sending them back to try and get a higher grade? My luck it would come back lower! Still waiting to get my 1964 Greenbay Packers Eastern/Western conference ( GAME USED ) ( TEAM SIGNED ) football back from PSA/DNA. One of only three in the world . The web site just says when received and when shipped. No info on authenticity, submission numbers, anything. And on top of that, USPS tracking says accepted on the 17th and updated nightly. But now its the 22nd and still no new info. Its driving me crazy! I think Ill call USPS right now!
