no one can tell, not even fleer! That is a waste to all who collected their products, but that is what we get when we let them auction off all their old cards
without creating a stink about it. I wouldn't trust ANY fleer autograph, especially one that is skip numbered!

Not true. I can clearly tell the difference, and so can PSA/DNA and JSA.

The forgeries are not even close, if you are very familiar with Pujols' sig.

yes, but you can't tell if it was signed in 2001 or 2008 can you?

    Kevin,

Actually, yes, you can. Pujols sig has evolved since 2001, and the sig on that particular card in question is a later 2001-early 2002 sig.

well if thats good enough for you then great. I still have worries about all fleer cards. Good Luck with the collection!

You can tell by looking at the sig itself.. Most of the fakes like this one below are way off..

  • #215 is real......

what stan is saying is correct....

this is the only problem that i know of, in all of Fleer's line in 2001.....i think the value of pujols rookie cards in general, made a smart/dumb employee of fleer save the unsigned versions of THIS card.....the 60 or so originals have been known since their release in 2001......

that does not mean that Fleer's line in 2001 is in any way questionable...IMO, they have the nicest cards in 2001 for Pujols (and other athletes), as they only used the on-card autos.....

High/closing bid of $611.09 is certainly reflective of the card being authentic.

Now what about this 2001 Fleer Legacy Albert Pujols Autograph SGC 96? It appears to be an "in-betweener", but perhaps closer to being not authentic.

  • get ready for a slew of more bad fakes, because now the UNAUTOGRAPHED AUTO VERSION cards are getting out, meaning anyone can try to forge his name now...

there is a blank auto version on sale now on ebay, AND a newly forged lower norder card....

Nope, not even close. This SGC graded copy is another forgery.
  • The 2001 Fleer Legacy Autograph is one card that I have been staying away from. Yes, I did bid on this card, but at a price much lower than the winning bid. I know that this card has been the subject of more than one thread discussing the authenticity of the autographed Legacy cards, but in my humble opinion, the autographs look so different from anything that we see from 2001 (Bowman, Topps, Leaf) that I am reluctant to pay up for this.
  • Here's one that's been authenticated to compare it to.

  • msohn, welcome to the boards by the way.
  • yes welcome to the boards, Rocky Mountain Collector....

here are other Fleer cards from 2001...note the beautiful designs!

A little off topic, but I don't understand why they 2001 Finest Pujols Auto doesn't get more hobby love. Why is that? I think it is a beautiful card with an "on card" autograph.

For me, it's because Pujols has other autographed cards in 2001 that look better. Plus, the Topps Finest is pretty plentiful. I know all of us have different tastes in cards, but that is just my personal feelings as to why I have no interest in owning one..

P.S. Be careful if you buy a 2001 Topps Finest Pujols auto. Some of them have been surfacing with the authentic sig wiped off, and a forgery signed on the cards(these cards with the legit Pujols sig have issues of being streaked or faded).

I really appreciate the help lately when I post about Pujols autos...

Can someone tell me if both of these are good...or just one...

thanks in advance to the pujols experts...

Why does fleer not get any hobby love???

    ahh, Ill answer that!

Fleer put out all these redemptions, hundereds of thousands of dollars in cards that they promised to collectors. When they went belly up they sold all
their back log of autograph cards and even sheets of sticker autos and who knows what else to the highest bidder instead of to all the collectors
who they owed cards to.....After the slate was wiped clean Upper Deck flew in an bought the naming rights to fleer and tried to pretent like nothing
    was wrong.

I would NEVER trust a fleer autograph card. I have one in my collection and it came straight from the president of fleer. I saw what fleer sold in those
auctions, it was enough for me to NEVER trust anything they put out again. I know some guys here know that too and feel the same way, but when
you are invested so much in fleer you must try to defend them. I feel bad for all the guys with legit stuff, but the future will tell all, just like scoreboard
    you can't trust anything.
