Does anyone tamper proof raw coins to send to ebay buyers?

Last time I start a thread with my iPhone image
I need a way to thwart ebay buyers from switching silver eagles (ie returning a spotted coin when a good coin was shipped) for claiming a refund. I thought of tamper resistent tape on a clear flip so the buyer can see the coin but if the tape is removed the refund is voided. Anyone have ideas?

You can buy a tape like that at office max. I have used it shipping out items befor but no need for it now.

I saw an eBay listing where the seller claimed to use a heat sealed flip, no returns if unsealed.

No need to thwart, just add

"No Returns on Graded Coins or Mint Issues."

    It works !

Aren't all US coins "mint issues?"

Yes of course, but not all are graded. Covers all bases for those who try to "switch" returns.
The original question was regarding "raw" coins.
Simply do not accept returns on graded/ungraded (or raw) for those who don't understand, Mint issue coins.
  • A few coins I have bought on ebay have these, I think it is a great way to avoid the dishonest buyer from switching coins.
  • I send my raw pieces, taped and stapled in a mylar flip; so far, no switches.

Yeah. That would be a fair statement.

So far - so good! image
  • I personally have had very few issues like this, but if you are concerned you can buy an impulse flip sealer from Brent Krueger coin supply. Thet are not very expensive. www.brent-krueger.com.

We have half the forum saying, "Don't take returns, you'll get screwed" and the other half saying, "Don't ever buy a coin from an ebay seller who doesn't take returns, he'll screw you." No wonder ebay sales are getting weak.

ebay id ernie sends raw coins in a mylar flip with a staple in it and a sticker saying "no returns if staple removed". It can be very difficult to see hairlines through his flip. DAMHIK. --Jerry
  • Is this really getting a problem on Ebay ? I have not seen any coins yet that was seal like that.

  • Use a soft vinyl flip and seal it with an impulse heat sealer.
You can buy one from any office suppy store, and they start at less than $50.
If I were going to sell any amount of coins on Ebay, I would engrave my name on the bottom platen of the sealer. That way, my name would be on the seal across the flip. No one could just duplicate my method in their switching a coin on me.

    Thanks for the excellent responses!
I am going to choose the impulse flip sealer method and will engrave something on the bottom platen like Ray suggested.

So which type of flip should I get that would allow the buyer to clearly view the coin?
I am mostly selling mint capsuled silver eagles.
