  • You should be getting a Welcome packet in the mail soon (has your cert, extra sub forms, greeting letter, etc).

You will get a whole kit from them in the mail in about 7 days. They send info on how to submit items, fees, forms and your voucher for the free grades. They also send six card saver ones for your sub.

I'm about to re-up...just got the letter in the mail today. $169 for 12 subs sounds good to me. It's only $1 more than this month's "special". image

I did the same thing. Sent in the freebies postmarked the day of expiration. PSA was going to deny me because they received the sub after the expiration date. Told them I would not renew if they sent the cards back, so they honored the postmark date.

Welcome to the club zep. The package will also have what the secret handshake is.

Doesn't that handshake end with a quick, hard punch to your own sack? If it didn't before, I think it does now.

Yes, hockey on television is a tough watch unless you have HD and at least a 50incher...as in television.

How come PSA doesn't accept UPS packages?

  • << <i>How come PSA doesn't accept UPS packages? >>

My guess would be that UPS doesn't deliver to PO boxes.
  • zep33zep33 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭
Fed Ex ground delivers to their street address though

    Shipping Addresses
  • just open a fedex account... it's very simple and cards get sent back much faster via fedex.

Just sit back and relax, the hot chicks dig us PSA members, I'll let them know you're one of us now.

Got my membership packet today and have my 6 cards narrowed down to 7 possibilities. I know the Dice-K auto is OC and might be the odd man out on this one.

Any reasons not to submit the rest of these? That dot on the top of the Ellsbury card is built into the chrome and nowhere near as dark as the scan shows

I'm not sure but I don't think autographs can be used this time. I could be wrong but I do know
that they won't get PSA DNA

IMO it is best to submit hi value cards, like Aaron etc if you have them.

Hopefully someone else will chime in regarding the auto cards.

    Good luck in any event.

There's an asterisk saying that certified cards after 1998 can be used on the free vouchers

I don't have any worthy vintage cards. I do have a 70 Aaron that might pull a 7 though
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Also, and again I am not sure but the sport royalty card is from the sports kings set?

and didn't donrus claim that PSA said they don't slab those? Not liscensed?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Ahhh yes I remember that now, so those fit that criteria then, if so and that is the case
then yeah I guess I'd send them in.

What about the sport royalty card? did I recall that or was I dreaming?

The Sport Royalty is from Upper Deck Goudey set last year

The Dice-K mini is the extended mini from a rip card

  • The Morneau has a little fishy below the "s" in 1st Base in bottom left corner.

The vouchers are good for a year, maybe it will be best to wait then?

Do you anticipate buying anything in the future?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • zep33zep33 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭
noticed that too, what will that do to the grade?

  • I think at best the Morneau will get a 9 unless you get the same grader I had on my 79 Topps Ryan that didn't notice a large stain on the front.

more than likely, just modern junk and next years Heritage. The local store that has vintage is a jackass and the good store doesn't get much vintage. Not sure about buying raw on ebay since I read so many horror stories around here.

I only have 3 graded cards up to this point and want some more.

Figured with these cards, I'll more than likely never sell and would like to have them nicely protected

I should get in on one of these group breaks one of these days

Then by all means do it.

    Good luck with them.

I'm filling out my submission form now and what should I put on the grading fee line since there are no fees? V for voucher and a zero?

And I need to submit these under the "regular" service right?

and the card value - Is that Beckett pricing? Or do I just make something up or go by what they sell for on Ebay?

    thanks

  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
    Zep

I left the line blank, they know cause the form you have.

You do pay shipping both ways though, from chart.

As for value, value them like you would for insurance purposes.

    Good luck on the sub!

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • zep33zep33 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭
Thanks Steve and the service should be regular right?

I'm concerned about the Ryan Howard value though - Becket value is $500 high and the limit on this sub is under $500. There's another service for over 500 but neither of them say either 500 and below or 500 and above so the 500 is somewhere in la la land if you know what I mean. And I can't use the free voucher on the other type of sub. If I just put $450 is that OK?
  • Bosox1976Bosox1976 Posts: 8,568 ✭✭✭✭✭
Put $499 - you're paying for the insurance. Anything under 500 is fine.

ok thanks - just didn't want them to think I would be putting less than 500 to skate by with the cheaper submission and have it held up on the back shelf

When it comes to slabing autos I think the grade on a card is less important than on a standard card. I would just get it slabed to protect the integrity of the card.
