I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

can't be cleaned because the lines don't travel over the letters.

  • maybe at one time the lines did travel over the high relief areas, but circulation
    has worn them away.
  • Looks like some sort of die polishing.

Heavy die polish. Is it "friendly"?

  • I agree heavy die polishing and some machine doubling going on to the east in the letters not sure what to make of the center of the center crater 71?

It shows neat polishing and machine doubling to my eye.

Not 100% sure on the doubling, but certainly looks like die polish.

Lee, what are you asking? I know you're aware of the common clash mark from Ike's head that necessitates the die polish in that area.

I was simply seeking opinions on this particular coin Andy.

I know what the lines are and know how they got there and why, I just thought I'd put up a "coin" post to try and initiate some discussion.

This particular coin is a 1974-D which I just sold off of eBay and I was taking one last look. When I saw these lines I wondered why in the heck I sold it since its a very good example of die abrading due to a die clash.

Its a nice Talon Head thats very close to being a Pegleg but its just not quite there.

I'm hoping the buyer does not find the abrading offensive.
