R. S. Yeoman passed away twenty years ago this month. I'm curious, are there any board members who knew him personally?

I met him on several occasions, but we never had a meal together. He may or may not have ever remembered my name.
PNG member, numismatic dealer since 1965. Operates a retail store, also has exhibited at over 1000 shows.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

He attended many of the larger coin shows.

I had him sign my copy of the Redbook at the August 1978 ANA convention in Houston.

For those who may not know, his real last name was "Yeo".

Funny that Julian mentions meals. I actually had dinner with him sometime in the mid to late 80s, with a bunch of other coin people. It was quite memorable, not because of anything we talked about, but because we were all eating BBQ ribs. He was sitting was right across the table from me, having a hard time getting each rib in his mouth. For every piece of rib and drop of sauce that made it in, two would dribble out. Now, I'm sure he was a good man, God rest his soul, but in the words of Longacre, this was the wrong way to eat ribs in public. I dry heaved a couple times, and it took everything I had not to hurl. RIP.
