Hands down this is the ultimate set of toned Matte Proof Lincoln cents. Check out the wild 1914 in PR67RB and the stunning blue 1915 in PR67BN, these are new additions purchased for record prices a few days ago. Congrats to Richard Shapiro ]image

    I was just looking at this set before I saw this post.

    Most definitely an awesome set of Ultra High Grade coins. Oh, and hands down the finest toned MPL Set.

    I keep going back to look - I can't pick a favorite but the obverse of the 1914 looks like its made from a metal alloy that has not been discovered yet!

    The 12 is a monster and definately one of the most vibrant I have ever seen. The coin is just a tiny tick away from a 67.

    You simply pile up $100 bills. When the stack is so tall it leans and falls over...then you get a nice MPL.

    Thank you all for your gracious comments. The coins deserve your compliments; I am but their temporary custodian. My big accomplishment was only to gather them together in one place at one time.

    Just out of curiosity, how would any of you compare (or rate) the very different kinds of toned beauty exemplified by my two extremely different (and yet both quite breathtaking) 1915 PR67BN MPLs?

    I am not kidding,

    G99G
    I collect 20-slab, blue plastic PCGS coin boxes. To me, every empty box is like a beating heartimage NOT.

    People come up sometimes, and ask me, G99G, are you kidding? And I answer them no, I am NOT KIDDING.

    the top one makes me think ms70
    the bottom has a subtle natural look about it but i would think the scatter above liberty would of prevented 67

    You've done a marvelous job Richard. I love all your beauties in both sets. Aside from your VDB, which you know I love, my favorite has to be the ex-Pete Miller 1915. If there were ever to be a Brown graded 68, this would be the one to do it.image I had an in hand, in house look at it for about 2 weeks last June. It is a stunner!!

    You know, Ted, that top coin looks good to me. The coloration is just uneven enough, it's not too light, and it appears to really penetrate the metal, unlike MS70 jobs. No, that coin really tugs at my heart strings.

    Richard:
    I have to say, I really love the ex Pete Miller coin. When I met him in Baltimore it was one of the first coin images he showed me of his collection, and I am sure it was very meaningful to him. It now adds such beauty to your collection. Nothing wrong with the other 15, or for that matter the Monster 1915 PR66RB you recently auctioned, but the top coin is my favorite!
