Everyone's favorite game: REAL or FAKE?

Received this scan from potential seller. Do not have a scan of back, but hoping to coax one out of him. Says it was his fathers for 30 years and card shop looked at it for him. So, is it real or fake?

I don't know.

BUT, any seller who REALLY thought it was real would be well served to
ask PSA before offering it for sale.

Without a doubt it is a fake. Look at the pixelation on Mr Ruth's pic.

The only 2 things I know to look for are print dots in black lettering and if you can see through the card with a bright light. That card has pixel dots in the name and that's enough for me not to buy it.

Easily could be the scanner.

I'm leaning towards real. Even wear on corners, card doesn't look tea bagged.

Still wouldn't buy without a scan of the back. I'd want to see the green ink and hopefully a little of the red "Big League Chewing Gum" banner bleeding through to the reverse.

To me the wear looks natural, but the Goudey trademark looks a little too crisp and the "chewing gum" text looks too wide. I'd love to see a scan of the back. I say it's a coin toss, but I wouldn't buy a Ruth ungraded unless I could hold it.

Ask to see a scan of the back to see if it has the typical Goudey "bleed thru". It looks fake to me....

I would lean towards the card being legit, but given the image source, I cannot be certain.

It looks real to me as well....unlike the other one listed from the zero feedback seller....his looks fake!

100% authentic

On the R319 cards you need to look at the red bar where it meets the yellow background on each end. The red bar should ever so slightly NOT match up with the background.

(On reprints the edges have been cropped in design, so the background and red bar are the exact same width)

There are novice collectors out there who will buy a card like this, never wonder about its authenticy, own it until they die, and experience a level of happiness about the card that most of us will never reach.
