Warning: ANACS slabs with switched coins

At the Fort Worth Coin Club show 2 weeks ago, we saw a barely VF Trade dollar in an ANACS Au50 slab in a dealer's case. Close examination showed some cracks along one edge of the slab, but nothing worse than we have seen with sloppy sonic sealing on numerous slabs from all companies. The dealer was VERY embarrassed and busted it out in front of me. Now I have spotted one on ebay that I am almost certain is the same type of fraudulent item. No way this is EF45, and something funny is going on with the seam on the slab, visible on the LEFT side even though the edge is not visible.

a little lenghtwise pressure in a vice and they pop
I am concerned about switches with fakes
and the eBay auction you posted, the coin looks a little funny to me but not my series

ANACS had never seemed to "get it" that NOTHING ELSE MATTERS if the slab can be opened and resealed.
Anything with a flat panel of plastic joining an edge (NGC) can be cleverly sawed out and replaced. Only PCGS (non rattlers) and SEGS
slabs would be almost impossible to open without destroying them.
It does seem that the newer slabs could be opened easily especialy if you get one that wasn't sealed well.
The older ANACs slabs would be tougher, you can look at the edge and if reealed it should show.
I would think it's small one time scammers, the big time ones would need a big supply of slabs. In reality no slab is hard to duplicate, they can easily make slabs and have a sonic sealer. It's scary!
If you buy a high dollar coin unseen or don't know enough details you might get taken. The best tool we have is learning the coins we collect in detail.
Steve, your coin has been "net graded" to reflect an old dipping. Plus, there is heavy wear on the head and chest resulting in the VF grade.
Obviously, I cannot say whether the eBay coin is a fake or not. Regardless, the coin has XF detail.
<< <i>The eBay coin is very easily an XF. 45 might be pushing it, but it is ANACS we're talking about.

If you like that one as XF I have several I will be willing to sell to you for low XF money. Just let me know. BTW the VF20 is in a PCGS holder and they are not known for net grading, but maybe this is an exception

Edited to add: I'm not saying the ANACS coin isn't a fake. It might be, but based on those pics it's impossible to tell for absolute certainty.
