With the holiday season upon us ...

Friends and family keep asking me what I want for Christmas. Of course ... I would love coins! However, I know that they (all non-collectors) would never really be able to find what I want and they would have no idea of what they should be paying. I looked on a couple of dealer sites that I like wondering if they sell gift certificates and saw no information about that. Is this not a common practice? If not, why? It seems to me a good idea and a great way to get future sales because ... I would probably spend more than the value of the certificate. Any thoughts? image

Tell them to give you green pictures of dead presidents.(cash!!) Gift certificates lock you into buying from a certain dealer. Cash gives you freedom to shop where ever you like.

image I had already thought of that but my wife says asking for cash is unseemly. It sounds right to me though!

A coin book of what you would enjoy reading would seem like an easy thing for people to find.

there is a coin show in my area that I'm going to with my dad a few days before christmas. that way perhaps he can pay for something that I can pick out myself so this problem won't happen. of course, it is indeed stupid to ask for coins, but why not supplies? you could ask for this year's red book at the very least. image
