Obviously,it is.It is being advertised as a fake and ebay would likely tell you (they won't say anything to you specifically, however) that the item is "genuine," a genuine fake.
Someone probably got burned with this altered date coin.
Anyone know if there is provision in the Hobby Protection Act for the necessity of marking items like this with the word "COPY" so that hobbyists are not deceived into thinking the item is genuine?
$127 bid and likely to go higher.

Looks like the work of one of Ebay's Chinese sellers, but without the replica punch. Even though these fakes and people who sell them turn my stomach, this seller is somewhat honest?, in that he lists it as a fake. Maybe the next seller will try to sell it as genuine.
Advanced collector of BREWERIANA. Early beer advertising (beer cans, tap knobs, foam scrapers, trays, tin signs, lithos, paper, etc)....My first love...U.S. COINS!

Doing a quick check, the other "1856 replicas" i saw on ebay are obvious replicas ie.,the date or size is wrong, the piece is marked "REPLICA," etc.
