ANA Civil War Exhibit

All Coin Forum Members,

The ANA museum just set up a wonderful Civil War exhibit in Colorado
Springs. The ANA has middle schools, 6th-9th grades, scheduled to
visit the museum over the next year, and would like to give the kids
visiting the exhibit a piece of Civil War history.

We are asking all numismatists to make a tax deductable donation of
low grade 1861 to 1865 Indian cents or two Cent pieces. AG grade or
cleaned coins are okay, as long as the date can be read. Low value
civil war tokens and paper money would also be welcomed.

Please send coins directly to the ANA in Colorado Springs, to the
attention of Tiffanie Bueschel. Tiffanie will send you a donation
receipt.

I think all I have are my examples in my 7070, but it is a great idea and I'll check...

  • Barry,

What a wonderful idea! Surely the Civil War artifacts will spark an interest in numismatics for at least some of the visiting children. Count us in as a donor. Here's a photo of the first package we have put together for your cause. We will see whatelse we can send soon. Keep up the great work as President of the ANA!

I don't have many coins dated from that era, but do have loads of CW bullets and buttons.

    Mr. Stuppler,

Thanks for taking the initiative to get kids interested in coins. I hope more forum members see the importance of this as well and send coins. I will be putting together a small package to send to the ANA.

    Great idea!
