Mike, I worked on the Barber quarters on and off for seven years. But my "on" periods are a lot more intense than most collectors' ... when I get into a series, I really scour the country for the coins, and I step up to the plate and pay arm-twisting prices to get them !! The 1898-O and 1898-S were outstanding coins. The set was priced as a whole, as I didn't want to preside over its breakup. This way, I could feel that most of the efforts to assemble the set would be preserved by the new owner. The '98-S is the most underrated date in the series in all grades, especially gem.
As it turns out, I would have done better to keep the coins, as any other places to park savings have been decimated this year. Ah well, hindsight is always 20/20. Just to complete the date set, here's my '98-P and '98-S:
The last of the Large Capped Bust Quarters and of the so-called "open" collar quarters. It would be another 3 years before Bust Quarters were struck again...

In late 1835, Chief Engraver William Kneass suffered a stroke, and Christian Gobrecht was hired as a "second" engraver to help create all of the dies, including those for the soon to be in operation Branch Mints...

I didn't think you had any quarters outside the year 1838 QuarterNut? Then again, your name doesn't specify any date range, so I guess it's cool.
BTW - I'll post a quarter image after breakfast.
I don't normally, but this one just seemed to speak to me..."Buy Me!"
