Biggest First Strike premium I've ever seen, on $25 FS 2008 w platinum Eagle

Wow. Even after the Mint starts selling them again for a little over $300 a FS 2008 w $25 burnished platinum Eagle goes for almost $1400. Any thoughts?

You missed the one that sold for $2199 about 5 or six weeks ago.

    My 2 cents -

FS premium = roughly 20% - 25% TOPS - EVEN ON THE VERY LOWEST POP PLATINUM COINS FROM SEVERAL YEARS AGO.

    Non-FS 2008-W MS70 $25 - $750 (roughly) - I have a few available at that level today.

FS would then be about $900 at this point TOPS.

Some collectors consider the "First Strike" designation important, and the 2008-W platinum first strike population is likely to remain low.

  • The point I was trying to make is that this occured after the Mint put them back on sale. Five or six weeks ago that had not happened yet. There were precious few of this type of coin out there back then.
