US Presidential $1...from Liberia?

A coin shop nearby my hotel had the first 4 Presidents on half dollar size coins dated 2000. Actually nice portraits and double dates of office. Size makes the differece. However, the reverse was surprising. Exact replica of the Kennedy half eagle! Republic Liberia and Five dollar denomination to boot. And a S mintmark at the base of the portrait. Anyone heard of these? At $12 each I'm tempted.
