Bank Find Question

I went to the bank today for change ( since my store doesnt remember to do a change order) and the tell who i talk to alot ( kinda like) had a few oddities for me she was holding for a few weeks. 1st was 9 $1 1971 Ikes, some with blue redish tone , nothing really high end maybe AU . And also 2 boxes of 2005 Nickels the silver boxes say 500 Five Hundred Nickels of the United States of America Uncirculated. Both are from the Phili. Mint. The bottom says " World Reserve Monetary Exchange" with a phonte number . She said the guy who bought them paid 100.00 a box but needed to cash them in so he can pay bills. The Rolls are unopened and seem like how they were when bought. I paid $25.00 ea ( face value) Is there any value to these or are they just Mint items that hold no real value over Face.

Sounds like you bought a bunch of coins worth not much over face, but a very modest profit can be made if sold. ANY modern BU roll outside the statehood quarters is a disappearing scarcity and could be worth decent money some day. If you don't believe me, just look at BU roll bid for dates in the mid-1980s...where some quarter rolls are worth $300, and some cent rolls are worth in excess of $25.

The question is, how many days will it take for these to have value that exceeds the trouble of storing them? The golden question without a correct answer.

  • Just another quick profit co. that puts full page ads in my newspaper.
    Makes for fun reading once.
Sorry, but to me, they're worth face.

Well thats ok with me, cost me face to get em. Ill store them for a good number of years and sell them for face + next to nothing profit. Good enough guys, thanks again.

Were those Ikes from the Denver mint?

The 1971-D can have a few different varieties, check the mintmarks to see if you got a few from Denver.

One of the most notable is the Friendly Eagle Variety.

For examples of what to look for go to The Ike Group.

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of those nickel rolls if you don;t mind.

I'm fully aware that those scoundrels at "World Reserve Monetary Exchange" have been drilling folks with their "Golden Presidential Dollar" offerings at better than $2.00 per coin but was unaware of the 2005 Nickel offerings.
