I see a lot of nice toning on 1945 cents, might be the shellcase alloy?

They are not very good at it. PCGS often does not slab NT coins, but seldom slabs AT. If that is then due to actual technical expertise is questionable. Maybe they should hire Bob Campbell

Which part of the album imparted the ring of dark mottled toning extending from T of trust to the shoulder a couple mm into the coin? Why would it be so asymmetric?
