1921 D TPG Graded... Guess the grade

This is my first guess the grade post.

I normally refrain from them but this one is looks very PQ for the grade assigned IMO.

Wondering what others think it should grade.

I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

I think 63, one potential reason are the hits on the neck that I think may be a little reduced in the picture.

The cheek looks to have some hairlining. Without seeing the actual coin to determine if that is actual "wear", I'd gues it's either AU58, or MS63.
  • Is that a hit of some kind on the bridge of the sniffer or am I seeing things?
  • Oh, I forgot my grade. I'll agree with MacCrimmon; same reasons.

I would say MS63 all day long, tomorrow and next week.

I was going to say 64, but based on your PQ comment, I'll go with 63.

Obverse looks 65 all day. 21's aren't known for great strikes.
Reverse breast feathers look...worn? Anyone else see that?

    So I'll go MS64

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

    Weak strike MS64.

  • I already know, but it does look good for the assigned grade.

On the bright side, I don't think you will ever have to worry about a down grade. image

I would guess it's in a 62 or 63 holder but The image looks to be a 64image

It appears there is a slight bit of rub. ANACS agrees and says AU58.

A shame since it has very clean fields. I've seen MS64's with about the same amount facial dings.

  • Do you see those dark areas on the obverse? That's how wear appears in a photo. But that can be deceiving, at times, and in fact be simple photography/lighting shadow. That's why I agreed, they called this one either 58 or 63. I also agree, if there were no evidence of wear or "rub," etc. - based on the minimal level of bag hits, and on the fact that these 21s are not known to be the best of strikes - this coin could very reasonably even rate with the 64s.
