Genuine service

Just my thoughts, but I think PCGS should offer a little box on their submittal form to "upgrade" for the difference in cost to the genuine service if your coin was to body bag anyway. Why do you have to wait to get the coin back, send it off again and pay from scratch. It stinks of pure profit grabbing.

Agreed. PCGS needs to put a little more thought in to this offering in relation to customer service quality.

They should automatically give it a genuine encapsulation for all BBs at no extra charge for 99% of submittals if requested. I doubt it costs them a nickel extra to do that.

I agree because in order to body bag a coin in any service level they have to determine if it is genuine as part of that service level.

Don't forget that for PCGS to offer the genuine service is very controversial in the first place.

So, no, they shouldn't just slab all bodybags. It would cheapen the brand name for all collectors and dealers who want only PCGS no-problem coins slabbed. ANACS, who slabs everything,
returns a much lower re-sale value in the market even for non-problem coins. PCGS shouldn't go anywhere near that type of decision, because it didn't work out well for ANACS.

They probably priced it to avoid getting a bunch of cleaned widgets into their holders.

What about slabbing those altered and counterfeit coins as well?

May make the innocent victim a little less likely to pass the coin off to someone else without mentioning it's "issues" and make more work for the clearly dishonest in having to crack it out.

At the very least would keep a couple (likely many if not most would end up being cracked out) coins from being purchased by another unsuspecting buyer. Would be a nice contribution to the hobby by PCGS in a number of ways.

I guess this might give more value to the coins in Genuine holders but I don't think it would effect the grade of coins in holders with grades.

Agreed - but they do offer the service. Using your logic, you are saying that if the service gets more (too) popular, PCGS will (should) stop it.

Not likely with the income it produces. So I stand by my original assessment. Since it seems to be just about money!
