Can anyone help me?

I'm still trying to figure out how to post photos to threads.

I don't use a hosting service like PhotoBucket, and honestly, I don't care to use it. Oftentimes, I have saved threads containing photos in other forums only to refer to it at a later date and find that all of the photos have been deleted. That is because some of the people who had posted are using the free version which has limited storage space, and they delete the photos to make room for new ones. You know the old saying, "A picture is worth ten thousand words." So, what good is it to save reference material without the photos?

I have two software programs installed on my computer. One is ACDSee for editing the images from my camera, and the other is Photo Studio for editing the images from my stereomicroscope. I have never had a problem posting images directly from my computer to numerous other sites. So, what am I doing wrong or missing here?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Chris

The photos have to be parked on the web somewhere so this site can see them. On the other sites you use the pics may be uploaded to the site, here there is not that option in what I assume is an attempt to limit what is held on the servers here. By using photobucket the space and traffic is on their site.

Rats! I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. It doesn't seem fair. I have it on very good authority that PCGS makes a heck of a lot more money than I.image

Thanks for the response just the same.

Just use the Photobucket free service. It's quick and easy.

  • I prefer imagecave.com... Fast and reliable, and when you run out of space just open a new account. Or, you can use imageshack.us with unlimited space since you don't have to create an account...but that site can be a serious pain with the popups and unreliability

    simplest way is to use....www.tinypic.com
no sign up-it's free-no size issures
    you click upload...then browse
then open your file...then a simple use
copy from 2nd line down and paste directly into text of thread
everything in life is but merely on loan to us by our appreciation....lose your appreciation and see

I was also resistant to opening a photobucket account but got tired of not being able to post pictures, so finally gave in. The reality is that using the site really could not be easier, and it is self-explanatory in its functions. My advice is to give it a try- it's free and easy.

Unless you own your web server, you will have to use some outside service to store your photos.

The storage capacity on a free Photobucket is very large - 1 Gigabyte, and monthly bandwidth of 25 GB. For the average casual user, you may never have to delete a photo, except for general "housekeeping" purposes.

If you find a photo that you like, simply right-click on it and save it to your own hard drive. You can also save the entire page with the photos as a HTML document locally. If you save the photo locally, you can change the img src tag to pic up the image off of your own HD.

    Full agreement here friend.

Besides, since PCGS limits photo's to 50kb, the only way top truely get good photo's posted without going through a lot or reducing abnd compression gyrations is to use a photo hosting service!

Photobucket does not spam you at all and I have never had a problem.

As for software on your own PC, it really doesn't matter since what you use, you do have to get it out to the web.
