Nearly finished with my VG-VF capped bust half year set, but

but I think the 1815/ 2 will be impossible... should I even consider this coin necessary? for those of you who also have done or are doing a year set, does getting a 15/2 occupy your mind? I don't ever remember seeing one available except in high grade
Most of these I have...some were replaced or sold and need replacing...many more were added... I'm down to needing 1807, 1809, 1811, 1812, 1813, 1818....and some more of the later years, but who's worried about those.....as I said many were replaced or sold

Nice looking set. Be carefull, though. Most Overton collections that I know of (including my own) started off as year sets.
JJ Teaparty has an F-12 1815 listed currently. They are also running a 10% off sale until the end of the month.
Buuuuuttttt! I remember back about 8 years ago getting my first 14 or so Busties and thinking this is cool. How about a date set, but wait, there is this other one of the date I have with cool die cracks and I have to have it and this other one with really cool original toning would be neat to have but I already have that date, but the overton # makes it a different coin and wait I have to have it and then I get to where I am now with 97 Bust Halves and I still want more!

I started collecting capped bust half dimes with the intent of just doing a nine-coin date set!
I've got at least a couple hundred of the suckers now
in todays market.

There are often a couple of killers in a coin set that are either prohibitively expensive or exceedingly rare.
Just think, with all the CBH collectors in the world, less than a dozen have the 1817/4 in their sets.
Keep your eye out for a nice one to come along when you have the extra dosh to pick it up, but don't beat
yourself up if that day doesn't come around for a while.
I'm working on the CBH dt/mm set in VG-F myself, and have all of them except for the 1839-O and 1815. I figure that one of these years I'll pick up an 1815, but it won't be in the foreseeable future. I just picked up an 1814 two weekends ago. The only coin I feel is unnecessary is the 1838-O, since only 20 were even minted.
My big problem is I've got all the Indian Head Cents except for the 1877, and all the Lincoln Wheat Cents except for the 1909-S (vdb). I've also just whittled my Barber Half set down to only missing the 1892-O (I just got an 1893-S at the same show as the 1814 CBH). So basically, all my sets are missing one coin...the key, and I haven't picked up any Indian Head or Lincoln Cents in over a year
I don't sweat it...I just try to convince myself that one of these years, my cash reserve will match up with my finding one of the above coins, and I'll be able to add it to my collection. Until then.....I just try to have fun
Steve
I like the crust on the 1812.
Buy an Overton book and theyre'll be no turning back - be careful!
