What are your buying or selling plans for numismatic coins in the near term?

Forget bullion related coins, what are your buying or selling plans for numismatic coins in the near future? Let's define near future as three months so we include the FUN show.

Are you going to be active at all, or are you on the sidelines?

I'm going to hunker down and try to ride out the Coin Recession. I might make some opportunistic purchases, but I am essentially sitting on the sidelines, waiting to see what happens to prices. I was looking at the prices on the website of a BIG Southern gold dealer, and it seems like his prices have become much more reasonable as of late. I am not sure if it is my imagination, but there were a lot of reasonably priced coins. Hopefully, that trend will continue, and us middle class folks will be able to afford coins again.

I do not plan to sell anything of substance. I am actually close to complete on most of my sets (need a few random type coins that are generally available) and am researching ideas for new directions. I have a few in mind but have not yet made a decision.

Right now I'm going to stick with adding to my Merc rattler set and start selling my duplicates. I'd rather not be buying at all but if I miss out on a rattler I might not get another chance.

I'm not panicking about the economy and my work is very, very stable but I realize that I need to be better prepared for an emergency.

Not heavily buying but keeping powder dry. If prices come down on stuff I want and it looks like we're through the worst of it and my job is secure, I'll be ready to start igniting that dry powder.

  • Well.... After selling the majority of my numismatic holdings at the A.N.A. .....

I am going to the CoinFest show in a few weeks and I plan on going to the F.U.N show in Jan.

I have used the cash to complete 1 of my 3 numismatic/bullion goals. [pixs forth comming on the PM site].

I am going to the CoinFest/F.U.N. shows looking for ONE specific coin to "complete" my 2nd goal.

If I find it..... price is almost no object....... buttttt a softer market will most likely help!!!

There has been no change to my buying habits, and I expect none over the next three months.

My plans are the same that they have been since 1962. They are the same that they will be until I croak. I will continue to buy coins which excite me while also meeting my available funds. I will continue to sell absolutely nothing.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

No change planned, I will continue to place bids on coins and I will buy at my local show (and maybe Coinfest too).

I will continue to buy bust halves and pcgsau58 walkers that I need for my sets as long as I have the
    funds to cover the purchases.

  • Stacks has some nice coins later today and January FUN will be a killer sale. I will be a buyer.

I am 6 coins from having my core collection done. I collect proof nickels from 1866 to 1937. I might as well finish it. I may even be able to add the 1867 with rays if coins tank big time. I have never added it up but figure i have about 30 to 35k in the nickels. In the worse case the collection has a face value of about $3.25. I did not buy these for any type of investment, i bought these to pass down and hope they stay in the family for generations to come. My parents do not have anything to pass down nor did they recieve anything to pass down. I want to change that, not sure it will suceede but i am willing to try.

I'll buy as much as I can tomorrow and sell as much as I can for the balance of the year. Yes, I'm serious.
