1875 Trade Dollar in PCGS 64 Heritage Auction - Reserve not met yet $6750

1875 Trade Dollar in NGC 65 with CAC Gold ANR Auction - Reserve met and beyond...currently at $32500.

Whoa....

Edited to reflect actual grade of PCGS coin (64 is accurate - 65 was an error).

Don't you mean grading service, or did you mis-write a numeral?

I also bet it had a lot to do with eye-appeal and other things, but yes that is a big difference.

Maybe you mean company name or even the green bean but not the grade number?

I think you really mean what a difference TWO points make. The PCGS coin is apparently average to low end at best and the NGC coin is probably in an old holder (lock upgrade with the gold sticker).
Average NGC66's had been fetching around low $20K's. This one obviously is far superior. Night and day to the PCGS 65.

You're right though, one point on the holder can be a HUGE difference in quality from another "comparable" specimen. Strong 66's in the trade dollars are very hard to find. The 67's cost an arm and an leg.

Does the CAC gold sticker imply that it will upgrade only in an NGC holder or, since the CAC seal of approval means it is accurately graded, that PCGS would bump it as well?
