No, but I've heard that St Augustine is way cool. Is that true?

Entirely true, they preformed some of the first hospital-based brain surgeries there. Rumor has it that when they drilled holes in your head for headaches they stuffed it back up with pocket lint to sop up the blood!

I will be there Saturday the 1st.

St. Augustine has a lot of history, a small winery and is the oldest continuously occupied city in North America.
The beaches there are very clean, and there's an alligator farm/exhibit that sounds cheesy, but is actually pretty cool.

BTW I'm bringing the wife.com to her very first show. Send a PM if you want to meet up for few minutes ...

If you can make it, GO!
Take an extra day there and do the walking tour of the historic area and the fort. Very interesting and scenic area even for the non-historians among us. The weather should be accommodating this time of the year.
  • There's a great little hot dog stand there. Small place right along the main road.

I like that too! Hazel's may be the place for lunch.
I'll be looking for commemorative coins some classic ... some modern.

Went to the show Saturday morning and managed to avoid most of the GA/FL game traffic. Even got back home in time to see some the game on the TV.
I guess it was good for those Gator fans out there.

Oh well, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of dealers and the turn out for this being a small venue and GA/FL game day.
I didn't find any of the PCGS slabbed coins I had on my list; such as a Crispus Attucks PR or the Vietnam veterans MS or PR.
They were some nice collector coins and even a few dealers with tokens, so called dollars and some nice Columbian Expo medals.
But, alas I had to stick to my budget (wife was with me) and did find a few things I needed.

I'm just a few cents short of completing my Lincoln cent album and have quite few spots in my Jefferson nickels album.
I was just about finished with the Jefferson nickels, but then I decided that I needed the proof only book, and poof a bunch of new wholes appeared!

Any how, I picked up a 1914-S EF Lincoln cent, 1946-D and 1951-S Jefferson nickels, 2002-S Jefferson nickel, a 2002 silver proof set, a neat Fort Frederica Monument token, and small Christmas gift for a coin collecting buddy of mine.

I also learned a lesson on this particular outing, at least it wasn't too expensive, and if you look real hard you may be able to pick out my lesson in the pictures below.

We found Hazel's hot dog stand, but as my luck would have it, they were closed.
We did find a very nice place for lunch though; The Spain Cafe. Very good, affordable, friendly and authentic Spanish fare.
Ordered a couple of tapas plates and a nice cold Negro Modello. Then headed back to my little corner of south Georgia to plug holes in the albums.

Gotta buy a chance, and of course I didn't win ... maybe next time.

  • Well the first nickel pictured in the 46 holder actually has a 51 coin in it, not sure if thats a photoshop error or not.

    and

The 1914-S mint mark seems really low to me, could it be an added MM?

You got it, the 51-S nickel in the 46-S holder.
A rookie mistake and lesson learned, buy the coin not the holder!
