Some where in my pile of coins I have a CC dollar coin that was sold by the government during the Nixon administration. I think the government charged $75.00, It is a long time and I was wondering what is worth more the coin or the box?

To give you a clue, Zayda, the government is currently selling Morgans for $19.99. That gets you about $7.40 worth of silver.

BTW, op, the coin is worth more than the box.
The original packaging adds no value, imo.
Most of the best coins have been removed and reslabbed along time ago.

Leave the coin in the packaging. It's worth around $180 and up these days. It all depends on it's condition.

I guess most of you guys are young, because I bought it during the Nixon administration and the government thought of a good way to make some money to pay for "watergate" Several years ago someone told me that the box is worth more than the coin. I just listen in order to learn I don't know too much. Thanks for the imput.

Post a picture of the coin in question, zayda, and several of the Morgan collectors that post here can give you a better idea of the value and whether or not it's worth sending in for grading.

I doubt you paid $75; that sounds high. The coin is a called a "GSA Black Box Morgan," and it's worth more in the original GSA packaging than if you cracked it out, but the box is not worth more than the coin. What is the date?
