I'm no expert but based on the photos, the strike quality seems to be there at least. Where's Teddy at?

Why not ask on the MPL, err...umm Registry forum? image

My own opinion (and I'm not a close follower of the series) is that it is NOT a proof -- I'd expect the rims to be wider, more square, and the L in liberty better struck. The fields do look matte-like, but that's not enough to make up for the deficiencies noted...Mike

I was thinking that the rims do not look square enough, but the seller said that it might be a matte proof. I don't think it is though.

Nothing about that coin says MPL to me. nothing.

Look at the long die crack line above the E PLURIBUS on the reverse. Nothing at all like that as a diagnostic on a proof.

Still a great looking Lincoln, might be worth a shot if the money's right.
  • Rim doesn't look square to me.

Please buy a copy of David Lange's book on Lincoln cents. That will help you much more than posting photos of circulation strikes for sale on ebay.

  • I don't see anything that says it is but maybe the photo angle is wrong.

Nice lookin' coin brothers, but I don't think it's an MPL.

The MPL Posse confirms this is NOT a MATTE.

It has a glossy look without luster/cartwheel/flow lines.
It looks pretty but I bet it would BB.
