    Thanks. I had a little too much lighting on the coin when I took the pic. It is just a small amount darker and more red.

    I think the planchet looks interesting but no idea what was going on.

    Very nice! Lovely chocolate.

    I've always thought that 19th-century Brazilian material is so darned cheap (at least according to Krause). I have a bunch I've been wanting to sell, I'm just not willing to go that low. image Seriously, even in UNC some of the silver is close to melt. Was there really that much minted/saved? Or is Krause off the mark here?

    I think I got a little lucky on this local auction. There does not seem to be great interest in these sort of coins.

    Nice coin Wayne!

    Looks MS63/64 brown to me. I like the wood grain toning. I think there are at least two causes:

    1. Impurities in the metal that did not fully blend during smelting.

    2. Contact with storage media - kraft style envelope or wrapped in cloth.
