RE: Messydesk's poll on black vs. tan background...GRADE REVEALED
FYI...I chose black.
In my opinion it really highlights the age, stunning quality and strike better that the "old tan" look.
It does take away some of the brown bit TFB. It's brown...OK?
CARE TO GUESS THE GRADE?? It's been posted before so many of you can cheat and pretend you're really good graders.

<< <i>I'll say 64 simply because it looks better than a 62.....and I like the black background with that "freakin' AWESOME" coin.
BUT I'D SAY 65BN

<< <i>I'm not going to venture a guess as to the grade, but it appears to have stunning surfaces and is truly attractive. >>
I agree it is a very nice coin...but I still prefer a white background for old copper.
Just wanted to say I agree with the black background. It just seems to bring out the classic features of coins.
The slight splotches in the fields are reminiscent to me of camouflage. It's not a 'cameo' coin...it's a 'camo' coin.
I really like the berries in the wreath.
After a sojourn in the realm of world coins...I come back to this design and compare it with it's world contemporaries. It makes me respect that design even more than before!

A great AU58 is a often a nicer looking coin than an MS62 very often! That's one reason I bought it. I'm not an AU guy but this coin is sooo pretty I simply had to have it.
These early pieces have a "Picassoesque" obverse design to them that make them so wonderful.
Oh Jay, you are a funny man.

<< <i>Amazing, some of the coins on here and the collectors they own are just unbeleivable! If I were PCGS I would put 10 blue "shocked" smiley faces on this holder and nothing else
