  Per = through
  Aspera = difficulties (alternate translation to "rough")
  Ad = to
  Astra = stars
  
  Remember that Latin does not require the same word location as English...
  
  "To the stars through difficulties" yet even this translation has mutated over the years to become a more modern "through suffering to renown".
  
  And for levity... Scio te esse, sed quid sum ego!
